"I found you!"
Zander had no warning as Mae flung herself onto his back, squeezing her arms around his neck. Her hair swung around and smacked his face, the same hair that'd he'd imagined in his head a thousand times and stared at almost every day.
"Well, technically I revealed myself to you."
Mae giggled at how naughty that sentence sounded but said nothing. Instead, she kept her arms around his neck and her legs wrapped out him, her face buried in his neck.
She couldn't help thinking he smelt amazing.
"I hope you aren't disappointed."
She audibly gasped. Mae couldn't fathom how he could think she would be disappointed in him.
"Zander," the name was satisfying to finally say. "You are amazing. You know that? You are literally wearing a onsie for me."
Zander put he back on the ground and rubbed the back of his neck, blushing at the compliment.
"Well, you are worth it." He mumbled. "You are my best friend, even if we haven't known each other for very long."
Mae reached up and pinched his cheek, making Zander yanked his head away. "You are so cute. I'm glad to have such a cute best friend."
They both smiled from ear to ear when Lucy came up to them with a mischievous smile on her face.
"Zander freaking Souza. Who would've guessed."
Zander smiled at her, his arm around Mae's shoulders. He watched as Lucy tied her brown hair into a mess Ilya done braid over her shoulder, shaking her head.
"You'd better treat Mae like a freaking princess. No, a goddess. Because she is. I mean, she's like, a clumsy goddess, but a goddess nonetheless. She will smite you if you hurt her."
"H-hurt her? Never!" Zander cheeks were flaming, but he made himself look determined. He'd rather cut of his own hand before hurting someone as special and Mae.
"Its not like he's my boyfriend, Lucy." Mae said, and then crinkled her nose.
"Not yet." Lucy said, winking at them.
Mae gaped at her before reaching over and slugging her arm. Zander seemed surprise and she started to regret it when he chuckled, tightening his hold on her.
"You are something else, Mae."
Mae was glad he thought so.
