It was a matter of days,
maybe even hours
I thought I would wake up,
to you on Thanksgiving
Instead I fall asleep,
to losing you
A few hours,
before Thanksgiving
I fell asleep,
gasping for air,
crying to the point of exhaustion,
giving myself a migraine,
my veins strained,
as I lose my eyesight
I was not prepared
Grand-mom
I want you back
with all who care
As heart-breaking
as this is
I must say that
I am thankful for
you living a long life
being around for over 102 years
I am thankful that
you are now at peace
and I am thankful that
you are now reunited
with your beloved husband
and all of your children
Rest in peace
Grand-mom Maude
I miss you
I love you
