>>FLASHBACK<< [MADELEINE'S P.O.V]
It was 4 years ago.I sat across my dad's hospital bed. Dextrose and machines around him. It happened again, but it's much worse. "Your father won't live long, ma'am." The nurse's words echoed around my head. This is his second car accident and I don't think his body can take it anymore.
I stayed with him through day and night, praying that he could at least heal.
"Madeleine..?" My dad opened his eyes. "Dad! You're awake!" I teared up. I brought my chair next to his bed and sat down. "How do you feel? Are you okay?" I asked. "I'm fine, dear. No need to worry too much." He said softly as he held my hand. "I know I won't be able to live long, and I hope you understand."
"But I'm just 15! How am I going to be able to strive by myself? Mom's already gone and you're going to leave me too!" I cried. "My dear honey pie, no need to worry, you're already mature enough!"
"I should've died quicker so I won't give you a harder time.." He sighed. "Don't say that, dad. At least enjoy the last moments.." I answered back, with tears running down my face. He nodded and smiled.
"Sure. Let's make the best of it."
Everyday, I'd go to his hospital room, and bring him his favorite food, and told him stories about my studies. He would crack jokes while he was on his bed too. Everything was going well, and he was happy.
"Madeleine," my dad whispered.
"Yes?"
"Buy me Madeleines." He smiled.
"Hehe, it's just like my name, right, Dad?" I chuckled as I get my purse. "I'll be right back!"
I walked out of the hospital, and went to the nearest pastry store. "Do you have Madeleines?" I asked. "Yep! It's $15 each." The cashier lady said. Gee, Madeleines are really expensive, huh. I thought. I handed her $50. She hands me the small bag with 6 pieces of Madeleines. I rushed back out headed back to the hospital.
"I'm back, Dad!" I smiled as I open the door.
"Ah, you're back! Did you get them?" He smiled back. I sat down next to them and laid out the Madeleines in a small plate.
"Do you know why me and your mother named you Madeleine?" He asks, as he reaches his hand out to eat one of the delicacies. "No, why?" I answered back.
"It was back in France, where I met your mother. Our company and your mother's had the same project in Paris. Your mom and I were both assistant managers for highly ranked companies. Oh, how beautiful she was. Her long, light-brown hair and dark brown eyes. We were surprisingly the same nationality, and we both had the same interests. It was like destiny."
He got another pastry and ate it like a kid. "During our work break we went out to a cafe, I heard it was really famous, I forgot the name." He scratches his head playfully. "We ordered the same thing unexpectedly, and that's when we knew it was love to be kept. We started talking about our same interests and dislikes. She ordered a side dish of small madeleines and ever since that day, she's been giving me a small bag of 'em every time we meet. We started dating for 5 years and that's when I asked her to be my wife."
"But ever since that car accident came, I never felt the same way again, I missed her day after day, and it was all my fault, just because of my job." He sighed.
He looked up to me and his eyes widened, seeing me cry. "D-don't cry! She's in a better place now, no need to worry about her!" he hurriedly grabbed a madeleine and stuffed my face with it. I sobbed as I chewed cutely. "That's my girl." He smiled.
He sat up and seriousness filled his face. "But when I pass away, I want you to work in a certain company, because I owe my whole company to them because they are the ones who made my job possible." I raised up my head and asked, "Who's company?"
"They're the ones who promoted my agency when I was on the edge of being broke and bankrupt, so I want you to work with them and my company will be taken down and all the extra money will go to you. All $13M of them." He smiled.
"Eh?! $13 million?!" I gasped.
"Yep."
"Isn't that too much?"
"Yep."
"You'll be going to South Korea, and you'll be staying there in a music agency named Starship Entertainment. You'll be working there small as a janitor at first, but you'll be able to work your way up to the assistant manager rank. You can do it, as long as you tell them that you're my daughter." He smiled. "You can use your 13M for your condo and your food, and as long as you work with the CEO, you'll be taken care of well. You're a smart girl so I know you can do it."
"Also," He grabs my hand gently and looked at me dearly.
"You should try on working with BigHit Entertainment too, because Starship and BigHit are close company buddies too. Collaborations with two different companies can double your salary too."
"That's too much!" I laughed.
"I know, but there's also one more thing you should be focusing on the most." His serious voice arose once again.
I stopped smiling and asked, "W-what is it?"
"This car accident was caused.. because someone tried to kill me." He said.
"What?!" I gasped.
"It was because I was protecting something from someone."
