Katie's POV
Where am I?
You're at the Ice Cream Palace.
Why am I here?
No one knows.
What am I doing here?
No one knows.
Why am I with some strange men wearing a silver armor?
Maybe they attended a knight-themed party, who knows?
Everything in this place looks normal. Okay. Excluding the knights. I start to stare at them. I see something bright red. I try to look further.
It's just a red cape. I start to think who the hell would wear a cape to an ice cream place. I find his eyes. He looks like he's been staring at me for a long time.
Yes, I know who he is. And I don't think he knows who I am.
"Nick!" I yell. He makes his way to me and he spreads his arms wide to hug me. I run towards him.
But as soon as I reach him, his hands found my neck. I look at this eyes. He looks angry and scary at the moment.
I try to take his hand off my neck. I can't breathe. I start to feel cold. My vision becomes blurry. He opens his mouth to say something. I try to stay still to hear what he needs to say, he just stares at me as I suffer trying to know what he is going to say.
But then, I sit up.
That's it.
The nightmare ended. I find my hands around my neck. I try to catch up with my breath. It looks like I was going to die. I looks like it was real.
I look at my wall clock and it read 3:28 AM. How can I go back to sleep?
My eyes are wet, I wipe the tears off. Why must my nightmares seem so real?
I hug my knees closer. If only he was here with me.

My phone beeps. I jump at the sudden noise. I grab it from the bed side table. It's already 6:30 AM. I have been sitting alone for hours. I get off my bed and walk to my bath room. I start brushing my teeth. I stare at my reflection. My eyes look bloodshot and tired. My hair looks messy. My skin looks pale. I look like a mess. I finish all my business before going out of the bathroom.
I slip on my black jacket and walk down the stairs slowly. Everyone's still in their own rooms. I'm the only one who's already up. I go to the kitchen and get an apple from the refrigerator. I munch on my apple as I walk to the living room. I open the television and start watching Spongebob Squarepants. Just in time for another episode.
The pirate starts singing. "Who lives in a pineapple under the sea? Spongebob Squarepants! Absorbent and yellow and po-"
The doorbell rings. I don't bother hurrying towards the visitor. I sigh before opening the door. The mailman smiles at me. He smiles like there's nothing bothering him, (lucky for him.) And he's holding a bouquet of flowers.
"Good Morning, Ma'am. Does. . ." He looks at the piece of paper he's holding. "Katherine Green live here?"
"Yeah. It's Katherine. May I help you?"
He grins. "Flowers for you, ma'am Katherine. He did describe you perfectly."
"Thanks." I say. "Wait. Who described me?"
"I'm sorry. I can't say." He says, handing me the bouquet.
I look at the bouquet. A daisy and some roses. The daisy really stood out the most. Is it from Nick? Or is it from Sean? My heart flutters a little. I thank him before he leaves. He nods and walks away.
I close the door, and then look at my cute flowers. I touch the roses first. The torns have been cut off. The daisy looks fresh as if someone picked it a few minutes ago. I walk towards the stairs to leave this bouquet in my room.
"Up so early?" A voice asks from behind.
I jump. "Mom you gave me a fright."
"I gave you a fright?" She raises an eyebrow at me. "This ain't Parent Trap, Katie."
I laugh. "Mom, can't you just play along?"
"Sorry, sweetie. I'm not an actress." She smiles. "Who are those from?"
"Actually, I don't know."
"What?" She asks.
"I mean, the mail man gave it to me but didn't say who actually sent it."
"Of course, the mail man sent it in. But are there any notes from the sender itself?" She rolls her eyes.
"I haven't checked."
"Katheryn. Are you going to stand there looking clueless or are you going to find a note in that little cute jungle?" Mom asks.
"Alright, alright." I answer. I start searching for a note in the flowers.
"Are you really my daughter?" My mom groans.
"Why? Am I adopted?"
"No, but you don't act like me."
"I could act like dad and no one will ever know." I smile.
"Whatever." She replies. "For Pete's sake, Katie. There's a tag thing below!"
I look for the tag thing. "Oh. I see."
"Now. Who is it from?" She asks. I start reading the little note.
Katherine,
Did you notice that there's only one daisy in a bouquet of roses? It stood out the most, didn't it?
Why? It's because it symbolizes you. You're the only girl I met that stood out the most.
Much love.
-A
Who is this "-A" person? Is this Nick? Is this Sean? Is this somebody I know? It could be Nick because we used to watch Pretty Little Liars before. It could be Sean because I know nothing about him.
"What does it say?"
"Stranger just sent me a short message." I reply.
"Read it. Out loud." She says in a creepy voice.
"No-"
"I want to know about this, Katherine Allison Green." She warns.
I hand her the bouquet. 'Read it yourself and guess who it is from."
She smiles and reads the note silently. I wait for her expression and her comment.
"I think it's Nick. Or did you meet somebody recently?"
"I met this guy at the bookstore. . . and-"
"It could be this bookstore guy you met. But it also could be Nick." She smiles.
"Mom." I sigh. "How can it be Nick if he doesn't even have time to call or even send me a message saying 'Hello.'"
"Love has its ways, Katie. We will never know what will happen in the future." She says.
My phone rings. I answer the call. "Hello?"
"Good morning, Katie belly." Zoe greets.
"Hey Zoe. Up so early?"
"Yeah, a mailman was searching for you about. . . fifteen minutes ago." She says, yawning.
"I know." I reply. "He gave me some roses."
You can't miss the excitement in her voice. "Who is it from?"
"I don't really know. But I'll try and find out."
