Katie's POV

"What color matches my eyes? This pink one or this red one?" Lizzie asks, holding up two dresses for prom.

"Lizzie, your eyes are green. Pick something with a darker one." Zoe says.

"But these are my top picks!" She pouts.

I shake my head. "This pink one suits you. Honestly, you'd look like a flower girl instead of prom queen."

Zoe's shoulders shake as she laughs. Lizzie stares at me and gives me a thumbs up. "I'm still getting the pink dress."

"Okay. Suit yourself. How about you, Zoe?" I ask.

"Me?" She raises a brow. "What about you? You haven't picked one for yourself!"

I shrug. "I'm not going to prom."

"Are you kidding me?" Lizzie asks.

"No. I'm not." I say. "But are you guys serious? Prom is ages away. School hasn't even started yet."

Zoe stares at me. "You're right."

"Aw. But I want to buy this." Lizzie says, holding the pink dress.

"You can buy it if you want, or maybe ask the saleslady to reserve this one for you." I smile.

She grins. "Sometimes, I envy your thinking skills."

"You mean her intelligence?" Zoe smirks.

"Yeaaah. It's so Erudite."

I smile. "But I belong to dauntless."

Zoe snickers. "Are you sure about that?"

"Yeah? Why?" I ask.

"You're freaking scared of rabbits." She points out. "Oh sorry. Terrified."

"Hey! That counts as my fear!" I defend.

"Aw. How am I supposed to give you a bunny on your birthday?" Lizzie asks, sadly.

I look at her. "Easy. Don't buy me one."

"Bunnies are cute!" She defends.

"Yeah. Too cute." I say.

"Why are you terrified of bunnies?" Zoe asks.

I scratch my ear. "I don't know."

"You're lying." Zoe smirks.

"No,  I'm not." I say, biting the insides of my cheek.

"You're definitely not Candor." She remarks.

I nod. "And you're definitely not Amity."

"Are you guys still bickering about the Divergent factions?" Lizzie asks, rolling her eyes.

"Not really." Zoe and I say in unison.

My phone rings. "Hold up. I'll be back."

I answer the call.

"Hello?"

"Hannah Montana?"

"Cut it out, Sean." I roll my eyes.

He chuckles. "Sorry, beautiful."

"My name is Katie." I say.

"No. It's Katherine." He says. I can imagine him grinning.

"Whatever." I say. "Why did you call?"

"Uh. I was wondering if you want to eat dinner with me?"
