Lynn's P.O.V

"Hi Lynn I missed you so much." I heard a voice scream as I alighted from the cab. I quickly thanked the driver and paid him the fare before I turned around to meet the girl who had just screamed my name. It was yet another Friday but this time Nicholas wasn't around. He told me his sister had just arrived from abroad and he was a bit busy today. I found it the best time to visit the orphanage.

"Hi little princess have you been behaving well?" I looked at the little girl who looked up at me with big black eyes. She was the prettiest girl I had ever seen. Her little head nodded which caused her brown hair to bounce around.

"Why haven't you come to visit me?" She asked looking sad all over sudden. A lump of guilt formed in my throat. I had been so caught up doing so many things that it was hard for me to visit her as regularly as I used to.

"We moved into a new house and I also transferred into another school. Good news is....."I slapped my thigh repeatedly to act as a drum roll. Her frown turned into a smile as she did the same.

"My new home is now closer to the orphanage which means...." We did another drum roll.

"You will come here more often?" She asked. I nodded as we walked into the house. It had yellow walls both on the outside and inside. There were some cartoons drawn on the walls and some children were running all over the house. It started as a home for girls but as time went by, they accommodated both genders.

A young boy came to meet us at the living room where I had sat on the sofa carrying Molly(the young girl) on my lap. He was pretty handsome too. He had the same color of hair as molly and held a pair of brown eyes too. From my assumption he was more or less the same age as Molly.

"So are you Lynn?" The boy suddenly spoke.

"Yes I am. How do you know?"

"You are all Molly talks about. In fact she hasn't been eating very well because of not seeing you. I guess you should be coming more often so that she doesn't get sick." The bond I had with Molly was a really strong one. I knew how much she loved and adored me but I didn't think it would go to that extent. I looked at her disappointingly though I was touched at how much she loved me.

"I promise to eat all meals and be a good girl but you have to promise to come regularly." I nodded my head and held out my pinkie and she intertwined hers with mine.

"Good princess." The boy and I said at the same time. I could tell he admired her and to some extent liked her. Molly furrowed her eye brows in anger and I thought I could see smoke come out of her flared nose. She got down from my laps with ease and walked towards him. Realizing the danger he had gotten himself in, he started running away. She chased after him and so did some other kids. It seemed like she was the boss around.

I took that as a chance to look at my phone. Today I finally got Lincoln's number. My mind went back to the time he gave it to me.

(FLASHBACK)

I was in the field with the rest of the class for P.E. We did a few exercises and then split up into the games we preferred. Since I was new, I had to fill up a form which explained the games I could participate in. I looked at the form and the categories mentioned then looked at which part of the field they occupied.

First on the list was netball. Almost all the girls were there. I never liked Netball or Volleyball which was the second game on the list. My eyes darted to the soccer team which apparently Nicholas was in. He dribbled the ball with ease and passed it to some random guy. I would really like to join the soccer team because at least I knew someone there but unfortunately I didn't like the game that much. There were some other games before my eyes landed on football.

I used to play QB(quarterback) and sometimes receiver in my previous school (which was a girls school) and was in fact captain of the team. I had missed playing the game and so I ticked the box in front of football. I filled a questionnaire that asked about my experience in the game and stuff like that.

When I handed in my form to the teacher who I presumed was the coach too he just laughed. The more he laughed the more my anger rose.

"Please don't think that because I am a girl I can't play the game as good as the boys or even better."

"Well am giving you a chance to prove that you are worth considering." The mid thirties guy said in a hoarse voice. He pointed at the gear and I picked it up quickly and got changed. I made a mental note to myself to remember to carry my own equipment (that is if I get accepted in the team).

When the boys were on break I went to ask Lincoln if I could play at at least one game. He looked at me from up to down and I crossed my fingers behind my back hoping that he wouldn't laugh at me.

"Are you sure about this cause this game is pretty rough for a girl." I tried to control my anger but it just came.

"Just because I am a girl doesn't mean I can't play the game. Why does every one think so?" He put his up in surrender and my anger slowly vanished. Way to go Lynn. Now your crush might never like you. My subconscious knocked some sense to me but it was too late to apologize. He had already gone.

"Are you coming or not?" He asked when he had made a little distance from me. I stood up quickly and followed him.

"I play QB and I have seen you are the main receiver so we might be partners." I said trying to break the silence. He didn't look angry but even if he was, I wasn't going to apologize. It was his mistake for underestimating me.

"Okay. Let me tell the other boys to huddle. You know the QB leads the huddle." I rolled my eyes at the obvious. Once every one had huddled up I spoke up.

"I won't say much. I am sure I play better than most of you." And with that we separated. Once the whistle was blown and I was ready, I threw the ball as far as I could. Everyone from other games had now gathered around the Football patch. I guess they had never seen a girl playing football. Lincoln caught it on the other side and tackled a few boys before he did a touchdown.

The bell rang and people started going home. Some people came to applaud me and for once I felt noticed. The coach came up to me with an apologetic look on his face. He ought to be sorry for bringing me down anyway.

"I am so sorry for underestimating you. Its just that we have never had a girl QB in our football club ever since the school started participating in sports. You could join the team if you like." I nodded my head as I took the leaflet that he gave me. I wasn't sure if I was going to play with the boys. Before I could zone out into critically thinking about the option at hand, Lincoln came up to me.

"Pretty impressive Lynn. We have practice on Saturdays and if you decide to join the team, you can call me to pick you up tomorrow." He said as he started typing my number on his phone. I did a mini happy dance in my head because it was all I was hoping for.

"See you when I see you." He said as he vanished into the groups of boys going to change.

"Good night Lynn." Molly shouted bringing me back to reality. Time had passed and it was already dusk. I just hadn't realized how time had flown by quickly.

"Goodnight sweetheart." I told her as I kissed her forehead.
