Holly Short, the youngest Captain in the LEP, hardly nineteen years old. She had only gotten this rank thanks to Commander Julius Root, nicknamed beetroot as his face gets beets red when angered. Root is one her closest friends, besides from Foaly. If it wasn't for those two, she probably wouldn't be in the LEP at all, because even though they live in a modern era, people are still very sexist towards females. She will prove herself more, though, Holly wants to show all of those who didn't believe her that she can do anything she puts her mind to.
Even if Holly is a little reckless and headstrong at times, she is an amazing soldier and doesn't hesitate to stand by what she believes in. This has almost gotten her arrested several times, but Root has her back and Foaly always has evidence of he so-called evidence. Every time that Root has to stick up for Holly, though, she gets a real talking to. Last time, Root yelled until Holly thought she was going to go deaf. Her ears wouldn't stop ringing afterwards, it truly was terrible...
"Holly Short! Get in here, now!" A far too familiar yelled, Commander Root. What did Holly do now? She didn't fail last her mission, actually it was quite the opposite-- Holly managed to save all the hostages without any casualties on any side-- so why did he sound so angry with her? Maybe Root was actually-- happy?-- but it was been too long since Holly Short has heard her Commander actually happy.
A sigh left her lips as she pondered each possibility as she headed to his office, her short auburn hair swaying back and forth slightly. Maybe she did make a mistake on her last job and she just didn't realize it, Foaly must have been monitoring her the entire time while she was on the job. Even for being in the modern age, the LEP was highly advanced in technology so it was only normal that their helmets could track and record them. This helped out without problems and some of the officers being framed as it provided solid evidence that they were innocent. Don't forgot about what you're doing, Holly, she told herself as she stood in front of Root's office, bracing herself for the worst.
"You wanted to see me, Sir?" Holly asked in a calm and cool voice, though Root's face was bright red from anger. Her heart pounded with fear, she did mess up her job, did she?
"Do you mind explaining yourself on why you decided to enter a building with hostages and why you let them all free that way? Do you even realize how reckless you are?! If you continue at this rate-- with being extremely reckless and careless-- I'll be forced to take back your badge." His voice was boiling hot as Holly paled, trying to think of a good explanation but no words came to her mouth so she sighed in response. Root leaned back into his seat and rubbed his temples, some of the red in his face disappearing.
"I... I'm sorry, Sir, but I had to... the negotiation was going nowhere so I took matters into my own han--"
"Ah, yes, you took the matters into your hands, like you always do. You can't always do that, Short, it's a one way ticket to being killed." Root explained to her, before sighing again. "Even when I was your age, I was never this reckless. Am I not disciplining my soldiers enough?"
Holly didn't hesitate to answer, because if there was anymore discipline, she would be forced to bring food from home because there wouldn't be serving enough here. "No, Sir--! I realize that I may have some... bad tendencies to do dangerous things, but I'm perfectly fine and I haven't been injured... badly, yet." She said, tripping over her words slightly as she fidgeted with her hands. Normally she wasn't this nervous but she really didn't want to get into anymore trouble or to lose her job.
Commander Root rubbed his eyes, exhausted from this conservation and paperwork-- probably-- before he responded again. "Tomorrow, you're doing paperwork in the office. If I'm in a good mood, I might even let you monitor the cameras with Foaly. Now go, you're shift is long over." Holly nodded quickly and stood up straight again, before turning around.
Paperwork...? I've never been assigned that before, I must be in a lot of trouble now. Holly paled, as she headed home.

Holly Short's house wasn't too far from the HQ, it was actually within walking distance for her, so she hasn't bothered to drive her car in awhile. Most people would refuse to walk home, especially if they had her job. On average, she would leave HQ either around eleven p.m. to two a.m., and that was on average. If Holly was dead set on solving a case, she might not even go home that day. Which... is actually pretty bad for her health, working all night and then all day the next day, considering when she does this her lunch breaks equal nap breaks.
Holly didn't mind this, though, as it has been her dream to work in the LEP since she was a little girl. Her mother always helped people, so she wanted to carry on her mother's legacy. "I spent my entire life helping people, Holly, please do the same." That's what her mother told her, and it's her motivation everyday to help people. It doesn't matter what life throws at her, it won't be able to tarnish her solid determination.
As Holly reached her house, she realized the silent footsteps from something near here, Holly was too preoccupied of her thoughts earlier to realize this before. Someone was following her, and if someone follows you, don't take any risks. Holly quietly took out her pistol and eyed her dark surroundings, trying to find the figure that was near her. Come out, you damn bastard.
"Oh, it appears you heard me." An unfamiliar voice said from virtually everywhere, sending a cold shiver down her spine. Instinctively, Holly turned the safety off and aimed it at the darkness. Faking the confidence she lacked at the moment, it's not everyday you hear a voice from nothing and everything at once. She bit her bottom lip and spoke again, trying to hide the shakiness from it.
"Come out, don't hide from me! Messing with an officer can get you into some serious trouble, you know!" She growled, looking around as she became aware of her racing heart beat. I've never became this shaken up before... what the Hell is happening?
"I'm sorry, Ms. Short, but that's going to happen anytime soon. You see, I have a task for you." The voice told her, causing her skin to crawl. Whoever-- or whatever-- this is knows her name, and that's unsettling. "My charge is thirsty, and I have had chosen you to feed him. Please don't struggle, I have no intent to hurt you."
My charge? She thought as an immensely strong force grabbed her arms and forced them behind her back. Her eyes widened with fear as she struggled to get free but the attempt was futile. Rope tied around her wrists, before she hosted into the air, resting on the tall figures shoulder.
"Now, sleep." The voice told Holly, and before she had time to protest, she turned limped on top of it.
