Escaping The Apocalypse

Road trip

         The car ride was filled with quiet teens as the two groups nearly met hours before. With the awkward silence Dust tried to create a new environment.
" Does this radio work?" She asked Bernón trying to break the tension.
" uh i don't think so, electricity is kinda weird with the whole apocalypse thing"
" oh yeah totally forgot " she responded shortly.
" where are we headed?"
" I honestly don't know" he replied.
" you're an amazing fighter"
" ugh where did that come from?" She responded.
" you caught my attention, you're good" he continued.
" thank you" Dust replied.
Meanwhile Autumn slept like she hoped she would and Serefina looked out the window at the broken city.
"Hey uhmm.. " Raiden started
" Blue"
" Blue, what a unique name, if its not too much of a bother what did you mean by your next kills weren't as satisfying as your first?"
" I think what you really want to ask me is why it was so satisfying to kill my father." Blue continued
" I guess that's what im asking" Raiden asked while looking at the golden eyed girl.
" Why do you want to know so bad?"
" why wouldn't i want to know" he replied.
"Its a very long story. I really dont want to talk about it right now" Blue said cutting him off.
" I'm sorry for asking." He persisted
" Don't be, curiosity drives the mind" she smiled".
" well can i ask you something else" he asked.
" mmm maybe."
" why are you so eager to kill zombies?"
" why aren't you so eager"
He stared into her eyes, Raiden becoming more confused with Blue's personality.
Meanwhile, Rin had covered herself and was hiding behind her cloak not wanting to be noticed by her old friend, Haru.
" Hey, why are you still using your cloak?" Haru asked.
" none of your business" Rin replied bluntly.
" sorry i was just asking... uhm sorry what's your name?"
" don't worry about it" Rin replied shortly yet again.
Haru couldn't help but focus on the girl, he thought to himself why she was so short with him.  He was intrigued by her mysterious ways. Shorty the car came to a halt due to night fall, they would prepare and set up for bed.
As they all stretched their aching bones , they began to set up tents to sleep in that they acquired from Costco.
Night fall was beginning, with the falling sun into the horizon. The night seemed peaceful but things would occur otherwise.
" hey I'm sorry if I bothered you back there, i just wanted to know your name" Haru pleaded.
" oh thats Rin! " Serefina joined.
The color of Haru's face seemed to drain as he realized the familiar name.
Rin's back tensed as she knew he would recognize her now.
" Rin?! Rin! " he yelled.
He quickly jerked for her cloak, her only source of covering her identity and pulled it off revealing the fiery red eye girl. He stood in shock as he realized who she is.
" Rin? I.. I'm so sorry! You never let me explain!" Haru began talking about their previous encounter.
" Don't worry about it Haru, you were just like everybody else, no shock there" Rin replied bluntly.
Haru moved forward trying to allow her to know the truth but she didn't want to hear it.
He needed her to know that he wasn't going to betray her or hurt her, that he had changed his mind.
While they argued the group stood by making sure it wouldn't get out of hand. Serefina observed feeling horrible for the information she had given away.
" Rin please let me explain" he grabbed her arm.
" you are a jerk! What is there to explain! You hurt me like everyone once did! These girls are the only ones that have stood by me! Leave me alone!"
"No!"
Before Rin could realize her reflexes kicked in causing her to punch Haru in the nose. He jolted back from the impact, blood beginning to drip down.
" luv calm down." Blue said as Dust held on to her trying to calm her bursting temper.
" I'm so sorry Rin!" Serefina cried.
" its not your fault Serefina, its his." Rin stated looking at Haru.
"Thats enough of that we know you have history and all, but fighting won't resolve anything." Raiden spoke convincing the two.
" lets just make a campfire and calm down. We've all had a rough day." Kai continued
" I'm not gonna give up on you Rin, I never will. I will fight until you give me the time of day. You need to know the truth" Haru insisted.
The group began to set up the fire and set up chairs, to have a bonfire and hopefully get the relaxation they deserved. The two groups merged by creating a large circle around the fire. As they were surrounded by night and clusters of stars, they couldn't help but share their own stories.
" well since we're going to be together for who knows how long, how about we go around and say some things about ourselves, who wants to go first? "
No one moved to release precious information that they yearned to contain within themselves.
" i'll go first i guess." Raiden began.
" I grew up with my mother and father and two older brothers. Since i could remember my parents were caring and loving, but i lost them when i was 13; An armed robbery. My father and mother had left my brothers and i home and i never heard from them again." Raiden spoke with red eyes, not allowing tears to slip down.
" My father died a fighter, he fought for my mother and although he didn't come out of the predicament he was in he is still my hero. Ever since then my brothers became distant: i lost one to a drug overdose and when the apocalypse hit, my other brother Hajime was dead before i could ever help him "
Raiden finished.
" can someone else go please"
" ugh yeah uhm my name is Bernón cathal and ugh I've lived in a broken home. My father has always been distant with me, in fact i don't even think he gives a damn about me. I lost my mom in a car accident: i cant help but blame myself for her death. I mean I'm the reason she's not here" he said sniffing.
" i grew up with only older sisters and life wasn't peachy. I always got into predicaments, fights that I didn't belong in, trouble that i could live without. But i built myself up because I didn't want to live like that anymore. Im the reason that I'm still here... Can someone else take the mic now, girls? "
The girls all were afraid to break but someone had to.
" i guess i can go " Rin said softly.
" My red eyes are something you can't exactly hide from people" Rin began.
" They have been an obstacle since i could remember. Most of my childhood up to now have been mostly filled with rude and nasty comments from the world. I felt alone, i felt like I couldn't trust anyone" Rin said hinting at Haru. "People made me feel like a freak when I wasn't. I felt like i could never be happy with the eyes i have today, but i was wrong. I am not a freak.  I should not be ashamed for something that is a gift. I can be happy" Rin whispered.
" thats why I'm forever great-full for these girls, they have taught me that i can finally put my faith and trust into someone other than myself" Rin finished earning a hug from Blue.
" well i guess i'll go" Serefina began.
" I was born in the highest class of wealth. What they gained in wealth they lacked in love. They tried to win my love and affection through gifts and to top it all off my father had disappeared one day and my mother never was the same. To ease my pain i buried myself into books, stories that made me wish for a better life. Books are the reason that i strive for a happy ending because i know its out there" Serefina ended with hope.
" okay well lets get this over with " Dust started.
" My life has been on the run since i could remember. I was born into a family of inmates which meant no matter what, i dangerous. I had to become a thief in order to survive. I had to find my own supply of food by hunting for it, i had to defend myself in every aspect: everyday of my life. I was kicked out of my family left with only but an injured arm, but I learned the importance of team work because being on your own is ruff. " Dust finished with a sigh and a smile.
" i'll go next " Blue whispered slowly.
" I was also born into a family of wealth and riches. Ever since i could recall my father and mother despised me. My mother wanted a obedient pet more than a daughter. She would use all different types of way to make me her animal; she would abuse me, whip me, cut me, anything to make me beg. My father wasn't any better. All he did was fuck his mistress and piss my mom off only resulting in her punishing me. They named me Luna because it was the name my mom wished she had. She thought it would make me beautiful. Now each time i hear the name, i cant help but wince. The day of the apocalypse my father went to sleep with his mistress and returned a zombie which resulted in me bashing his head and my mom hated me so much she slit her own throat, haha" Blue ended laughing.
" well i guess its my turn" Haru stated.
" ugh well i was never really close with my family. My patents always worked so hard, i was an only child which meant i was alone most of my childhood since they both were always traveling. When i did spend time with my family they didn't know me or understood me so i never really got to know them. I messed with the wrong crowds in school, I had to raise myself, which meant i made a lot of mistakes. With a particular crowd i met a red eye'd girl that i was supposed to trick but I realized what an amzing person she was" Haru said mentioning Rin.
" She became my source of happiness until the group ruined it. Ruining a friendship i had created" Haru ended.
Rin couldn't help but think the friendship was based on lies. 
" wow guys" Kai sighed. Autumn hugged Blue," i dont think I could be as stong as you guys are" she said honestly.
"Were all in this together" Kai mentioned.
" Most of us have gone through some pretty ruff shit but we are strong and strong people can build a strong person back up" Bernón ended.
