Sander's Point of View
As the car rolled, Katie was ripped away from me and slammed into a window and I hit the floor. I wasn't able to move to get to Katie for a minute or so until the car stopped, but the minute felt like eternity. Glass shattered and rained on my bare skin like sharp pieces of hail, cutting my skin like cheese which healed instantly as soon as it was split.
When the rolling was done, I leaned over to Katie's slumped form. Blood dripped down her arms, anywhere the glass and debris cut her skin. Tear welled behind my eyes as I saw her chest rise and fall with life and I gripped her hand tightly.
"Now is not the time to cry Sander!" Sarah cried, kicking out her door. "Thompson and his whole army of goons is on their way here right now!" I clenched my jaw again and kicked out the window, sliding my body over Katie's slipping out the window. When I was fully out I turned back and pulled Katie out, trying not to hurt her anymore than she was, cradling her gently to my chest.
"We have to get to the Waters Bridge hotel. I have a guy there who can help," I told Sarah as she slipped Reaper Blades into a couple bands, and handed me one which I slung around my chest. "It isn't far, but we have to run- I can sense a presence we do not need right now."
At that very moment, a was loud screech cut through the cold, winter night. It was the type of screech of a hunter, seeking it's kill; the kind that made your bones rattle and your blood run cold. The kind the could easily make your ears bleed.
"Arboks'!" I yelled and took off running, jostling Katie with every step I took. The blood was making it difficult to hold her, but I could see Waters Bridge not far from where Sarah and I were not. We wouldn't make it, not if I held Katie and ran the whole time. I could practically feel the Arboks' talons digging into my flesh as their poison turned my heart to stone, my skin as cold as ice. "Sarah! Take Katie and run till you see a wrought iron gate! Get inside and keep her safe!" I handed the frail girl I held to Sarah and she ran as I yanked two knives from the belt around my chest.
I could see the first of the beasts; Giant ears with purple hair on the insides, green surrounding their cold, golden eyes. Their bat like bodies, looking like they'd be to heavy to carry off the ground very long but moving as fluidly as water, their bat like wings flapping fast, locking on me. There were three in total, approaching me quickly. The foul odor that emitted from them would make even Satan himself hurl.
As the first approached me, slime like talons extended to rip and shred and kill, I threw a blade into its' chest, making it fall from the sky and land on the ground with a ground shaking thump. I dashed to it, and ripped my knife from it's feathered chest, repeatedly stabbed it until it no longer moved, blood splattering my clothing and skin. The blood burned and stung my skin, sizzling through my clothes, but I paid no mind; I've felt much worse pain than this before.
It was simple killing the others honestly. Well, I think slaughtering is a better term for what happen; so much blood and gore, it would petrify a mass murderer. But for me, I enjoyed it, the thrill of it, the enjoyment of seeing the cold, evil, hatred leave their eyes. Wait, wait, that makes me sound like a mass murderer now- I mean, I enjoy killing demons to protect humans and others. I don't enjoy murdering people, let me say that now before you get burn the witch! on me.
When I made it to Water Bridge, I found Garnel waiting for me inside the gates, a cloak extended to me. I gratefully took it, snapping the gold loops together, the black fabric brushing my ankles and wrapping around my entire body.
"You are very lucky Sander," My old friend said softly as we both pulled up our holds, walking inside the old hotel that was in use for public any more. On the outside, it looked like any old hotel; spooky, run down, should be torn away and gone but wasn't. "If your sister and that other girl hadn't reached here when they had, I'd have a whole horde on my doorstep right now. When we made it past the threshold and the wooden bolts were locked tight, the lights came up.
