As Oliver is running through the jungle of the deserted island of Lian Yu, he dashes through the thorns, weeds and gravel as he climbs to the top of a steep cliff wearing his green hood. As he gets to the top of the cliff, he sees a Chinese sailor's boat sailing in the distance. At that moment, he finally sees his chance at being rescued and going home. Suddenly, he takes a knife shoving it into the ground as firm and fast as he possibly could. He takes an arrow from his quiver that was lying on the ground and uses the sturdy firm knife that he shoved into the hard ground as a flint to ignite the arrow.

As he takes the arrow and places it in position to shoot, his heart begins to pound, as sweat is pouring down his face, he realizes that this could finally be his opportunity to return home and save his city by using the list his father gave him to eliminate the names of men and women who have corrupted Starling City. He aims the arrow at a pile of brush, then he releases and shoots the ignited arrow into the pile of brush which causes an explosion that alerts the sailors on the boat.

As they arrive on the deserted island, they see an unknown person in a green hood standing on the shore. When they get close enough to see who it is, as he removes his hood, they discover that it is none other than the pronounced dead millionaire playboy, Oliver Queen.

*Oliver's POV*
"The name of the island they found me on is Lian Yu, its mandarin for purgatory. I have been stranded here for five years, I have dreamed of my rescue every cold black night since then. For five years, I have had only one thought, one goal..... Survive. Survive and one day return home. The island held many dangers. To live I had to make myself more than what I was, to forge myself into a weapon. I am returning not as the boy who was shipwrecked, but as the man who will bring justice to those who have poisoned my city. My name is Oliver Queen."
