i apologize for that
now lets get rooight into this,,No. That didn't just happen.
Lena grunted as she tried to prop herself up. She had fallen off the building that she had chased Widowmaker on, having almost died in the process. She groaned and closed her eyes for a moment. God, it hurt so badly. Why did it hurt so badly?
She finally looked up to spot a ship as it sped away overhead. Great, they got away. What else could she have assumed, though? Widowmaker had won. Tracer was on the ground, not the sniper.
She tried to listen to what was going on where the people were gathered. Maybe the shot had missed. No; she knew it was impossible, but she at least hoped. She knew she had at least put some amount of difficulty into the kill.
But from the not so distant yells, she could tell that Talon's mission had been accomplished. The assassination had succeeded. She had failed.
She rolled over, looking at the wall to her left. She closed her eyes and thought about how this could have been avoided; how she could have stopped it all.
But she knew it was too late.
Mondatta was dead.
She inhaled sharply. Her entire body ached; she knew it was not from the running, not from the gas she had inhaled, at least not anymore, but from the guilt from it all. She had put (Y/N) and everyone else at the gathering in danger as well as herself, not even able to stop the assassination. If Talon had noticed Widowmaker was having trouble, would they have abandoned her or sent backup to do it themselves? Did they notice? Would they take action?
She inhaled sharply, tears burning her eyes. That was in the past now. No one else was hurt and that was all she cared about.
-
Panicked yells came from the crowd as you stared at the guards and then shook your head. There was a stream of smoke coming from atop a building after a large bang, but it faded almost as soon as it appeared. It had to be a sniper. You looked up and around just in time to see a figure grapple into a ship. There was a sniper.
Your breath hitched for a second. "Oh no," you whispered.
"(Y/N)," you heard a shout, making you jump. You perked up and looked around; you had recognized Adam's voice as soon as he had started speaking.
"Adam?" you replied, trying to sound loud but failing, your voice cracking in the process.
You walked toward where the voice had come from, pushing past all of the whimpering and angry people. You spotted him and broke into a run toward him.
He spotted you and exhaled in relief. "You're okay," he said.
"Yeah," you replied, your voice cracking, "but I don't think Tracer is."
He paused for a moment, scanning your worried face. "Wh-What do you mean?"
You shook your head. "We have to go. We have to find her."
You grabbed his wrist and dragged him with you toward the building where the ship had taken off from. Your eyes scanned everything, trying to find a sign of her as you walked.
Adam stopped you at the entrance to the gathering area. "Maybe she went to scout around the area," Adam suggested. "I can look around here. You go see if she's around anywhere else."
You nodded frantically. Your heart was beating so fast you thought it would burst. You were nervous for her- but then again, you knew anyone would be. You looked around, thinking of which way to go first. She had disappeared and promised to come back, but now you had to go seek her out.
You weren't necessarily angry- you were more anxious and saddened. She went forth to fight the attack. You should have done it. You could have sacarficed yourself instead. You knew you were less important than she. She was an agent of Overwatch and you were but a bystander. You never fought in an omnic war. You never had to deal with Talon. All you wanted to do was be useful in at lesst one scenario.
You knew that whatever she had tried to do was probably stupid but selfless, which was what made you worry. If she had no concern for her own safety and only the safety of others whilst doing what she was doing, how could you even consider she was going to be okay?
You practically sprinted to the left. You scanned the area as you ran. You crossed the street without looking, sprinting down an alley. You looked behind everything. There was no sign of her. You ran back to where you had entered the alleyway. You were breathing heavily because you were sprinting and your heart was beating so fast.
You decided to walk. You knew that if you went too fast, you had a possibility of missing her. As you walked, you tried to keep your breathing steady, but failed miserably. You would have trouble catching your breath because of how worried youwere mixed with the fact that you were running; you kept repeating that to yourself as if trying to comfort yourself.
You froze as you took a step forward toward the fifth alleyway down. You lifted your foot. A spark? You examined the concrete below your foot and put your foot back down. It wasn't you.
There was another snap. You slowly walked forward toward the alley, hoping it wasn't just another beat down omnic.
Before you entered the alleyway, you knew it wasn't just an omnic almost immediately. That flickering blue glow reflecting off the wall. It hurt you to look at it, and you wanted to look away so badly. You froze staring at the wall umtil the next spark sounded; it was louder, and it snapped you into action.
"Tracer!" you cried out on instinct, running forward. You turned the corner to spot her lying on the ground on her side, the chronal accelerator on her chest flickering and popping every once and a while. "Oh my God!"
Tracer didn't move, but you knew she was alive. You simply refused to believe she was dead. You ran over to her and dropped to your knees, examining her for a moment. You then picked her up the best you could into your lap, wrapping your arms around her and pulling her close.
You heard an unaudible mumble come from her. "You're going to be okay," you assured her, but you were still unsure of how you were going to fix the chronal accelerator on her chest. Hopefully she knew a little bit about it.
"I know," she replied weakly. "I'll make sure I'll be."
"I'm here for you, and so is Adam," you replied.
You looked down at Tracer as she smiled. You couldn't help but smile in reply. You both sat there for a moment, and you moved a strand of hair away from her face. You knew that this moment was only making things worse for her, so you pulled yourself out of the trance and came back to reality.
You could have sat there all day, but you knew you had to get her back to your apartment, where it was at least a little safer. "Can you walk?"
Tracer knew that she couldn't, but the words slipped out of her mouth; "Yes, I- I think so."
You nodded and helped her to her feet. You noticed she felt very unsteady; she was probably weak, and it worried you. "Maybe going in the car isn't a good idea right now."
Tracer shook her head, confirming your statement. "Alright," you said gently. "We can walk as slow as you need to; don't worry. I'm here for you."
That's about it yall! I hope you liked it! sorry for any spelling or grammar or anything mistakes once again.
until next time!
