Chapter 13: What really happened

Adam twiddled his thumbs and tried to think of what was going on. Peter slowly walked over to Adam to tell him what had happened.

"Do you know why she's mad at you, Adam?"

"No, I don't, that's why I'm so confused," explained Adam.

"So, we were all there trying to avoid you when you shot Courtnee..."

"I would never do that to Courtnee, though! That's not me!" Adam interrupted.

"No, you don't understand, you were controlled by Queen Lucy at the time. So you shot Courtnee with fire then Sofia came over to heal her. Then, after Courtnee was all healed you shot Sofia but Sofia can't heal herself. After Zach went over and knocked you out, we all went to Sofia and she... well, she...... died..." Peter summarized with tears starting to fill his eyes. "And Courtnee was really moved by that. She is devastated. But she couldn't help but hate you right then and there," Peter said trying to hide his tears by looking away and wiping his face with the back of his hand.

"Wow... I just killed her best friend... Why did I do that?!" Adam exclaimed putting his head in his hands.

"Don't be like that Adam! Don't beat yourself up!"

"No, Peter, I just killed a friend and risked the life of another! That's 2 people!"

"It wasn't your fault, Adam! She controlled you and that certainly wasn't your fault!"

"It was me that killed her though, right? Tell me that I'm not right," Adam proved.

Peter didn't have anything else to say after the proven point that Adam made. He was speechless. He didn't have anything else to say.

"That's what I thought," Adams eyes started to fill with tears as he tried to keep in the moisture in his eyes. He curled up in a ball of sadness next to the tree as he cried softly.
