The library was silent. The starlight leaked through the curtains. A woman stepped through the darkness and into the light. An old voice spoke out of the darkness.

"I see you've found me."

"Of course I found you," the woman said.

She stepped towards an old man that sat motionless at the table. His skin was wrinkled like a crushed water bottle. His glasses had scratch-marks on it, the metal of it shown in the light.

"You've come for information?" he asked.

"Yes, I need to know how to escape."

"Escape from what?" he turned and looked at her in confusion.

"I never told you, but I come from a place very far away an-"

"England is far away," he interrupted. His features softened as he turned around to face away from her.

"I need information on the tesseract," she demanded.

He froze. A grin stretched across his face, he was interested.

"In the decades I have known you, you've never aged. I always wondered why. Now, I see the reason."

"I need to know how to construct one."

He slowly stood up. He picked up his cane from the table and began leading her deeper into the library.

"You want to know how to build one? From our current understanding of the laws of physics, that's impossible."

She let out a sarcastic laugh. "From what you've seen me do, you know very well that I don't abide by those laws."

He continued down the rows of bookshelves, dust layered on top of every book. He reached an ominous black door. He placed a key into her outstretched hand.

"I am the gatekeeper," he stated.

"One of the old creators!" she exclaimed. "What ever happened to the others?"

"They're out there. If you wanted to leave, you could've always asked me."

"I didn't know you had the capabilities until recently."

"I'll see you around. Visit me sometime?"

"That's if you're not dead by then."

He chuckled as he walked away. She placed the key into the lock. The door opened with a subtle click. She opened it. A bright stream of colors erupted from the area beyond the door. As she stepped through, the door closed behind her. In an instant, the door vanished.
