After a month at the Pokemon centre, the pair were beginning to grow apart. Despite spending every day together, Fennekin's inability to remember anything from their past was beginning to affect the pair's relationship. If something didn't happen quickly, the pair would soon separate. Riolu noticed it happening and urged nurse joy to help them as he didn't want to lose Fennekin. She meant too much to him.
The pair had used the camera given to them, and they already had a small photo album put together. The images helped Fennekin slightly, as some memories became less clouded than others. The pair sat over the album, looking at the pictures.
"This one was funny."
Riolu pointed to a picture of Fennekin pulling a funny face.
"I... Think I remember that."
She responded. She struggled to remember the past, but the pictures made it possible. The pair looked at more pictures, and Fennekin began to remember more parts of their recent past. Things were, for the first time, beginning to get better. With nurse joy working on a solution, Fennekin would be better in no time.
Riolu explained to Fennekin her condition as he did every day, but he was now able to add that she was close to being able to recover her memory. The usual first part made her upset, but the second part left her overjoyed.
"I'm going to be normal again? I can't wait! I can hardly believe it!"
She said.
"Me neither. It's been a whole month since I last saw you the way you were."
Riolu replied.
The pair decided to go back out into the streets and take pictures of the things they had seen yesterday. They didn't have the camera before, but Fennekin seemed eager to do it, so Riolu didn't hold her back.
They took pictures of the colourful posters on shop windows, and they took pictures of the view from the field they had took a break on yesterday. The view at sunset was best, but the pair would need better timing for that as it was barely a few minutes after midday.
They went to the pier, and took pictures of the water and the view from the shore. The pictures were amazing and Fennekin would be able to remember moments like them for a little longer because of it. This made both Pokemon happy as it meant they wouldn't drift apart as quickly. The idea deeply worried Riolu as Fennekin was all he had- that was one reason why he never left her side. She meant to much too him, and he didn't know what he would do if she left him.
After the two got back, they added the pictures to the album. Fennekin liked the look of all of them, and Riolu was very fond of them too. He knew that if Fennekin ever got better, he'd treasure the pictures more than anything. He wished he had gotten the camera much earlier as there were other things he wished he could remember.
Putting the pictures in completed the third page in the pair's photo album, leaving one page of open space left. Riolu liked the sound of it as it meant the pair would have a lot to look back on if the ordeal was to ever end.
"Look at all of these pictures. I can't decide which I like best."
Riolu said.
"I like the first one the best."
Fennekin replied. Riolu turned to the first page in the album, where the first picture taken by nurse joy was stored. Riolu remembered when the photo had been taken.
"If there's one thing I remember from all of the pictures, it's how I felt when that picture was taken."
Fennekin told him.
"That's was one time when I was truly happy."
Hearing that made Riolu tear up. He wished then more than ever that Fennekin would get better, so that the two could continue on their adventures.
