Into the Deep Blue

Prologue

Bright shoals of fish swam by, zooming past with just the tiniest flicks of their tail and fins. Farther away, a whale bellowed loudly, and a pod of dolphins splashed playfully, jumping and diving into the cold water of the Pacific Ocean. Deep, deep down in the ocean, there lies a different race, one that swims as gracefully as a fish, but has the structure of a human. They are called mermaids, and their existence is not known of by the human race. Nor do they want to be discovered, for many fear that if they are found, their race would be hunted down and tested on, put in captivity, or face certain deaths. So mermaids continue their normal lives, way deeper in the blue than any human would go, and all were banned from ever going up to the surface. But there were some that would defy those in power.....
