What?!

That was the only thing that was running through my mind right now. 'What did she mean that the fire wasn't accidentally started?' I didn't know how to respond, I mean what are you supposed to say to that.

The only thing that I could think of, is saying, "What?" The lady spoke again. "I said, that the fire that was started, it wasn't accidental, like someone did it on purpose." "No, I heard you. I meant like what happened. How did it happen."

This time, the lady that was on the other side of the phone, turned into a guys voice, but I didn't question it. She probably handed the phone over to someone, because either she didn't know how the fire started, or was too emotional to speak.

"So this is Marissa, huh?" "Yep." I said."So, about the fire." He didn't continue, and I wasn't going to respond, and I guess he saw that too. "Well, you see. it started in the oven." "And what was the source of the fire?" I asked.

Wow, was watching way too much crime scene shows. sounded like knew everything. just chuckled, on the inside.

He just laughed and said, "The thing that started the fire.... was actually playdoh." He was laughing, through out his whole sentence. I don't blame him, I probably would be laughing too. "Playdoh?" I questioned him again. Maybe he was just kidding with me, but then again, why would he joke around with some one like that.

"Yeah, we found some playdoh in the oven. Your mom must have put something in the oven, like casserole or something, and while cooking. She must have had the temperature up high, and it caught the playdoh on fire, and mist have sent the whole kitchen on fire.

How did playdoh ever get in the oven? I thought to myself. I knew I had to respond. "Okay, that's weird. How is my mom? Will she be able to come home tonight?" I quickly changed the subject. "About that, she is still unconscious, but she will wake up. She just went unconscious by the smoke, and it may take a few days for her to wake."

"Okay, just give me a call for any news." "Alright, will do." The guy said, and then hung up. I knew I couldn't go back to my house and be home alone all night, in know my mom wouldn't want that for me. So I asked Sydney if I could stay at her house for a couple more days. At this point, I told Sydney's mom what happened, but not what I just heard, and she said she would do anything, that she needs to.

I was able to spend the night at Sydney's for a few more days, at least until my mom got better. I started to tell Sydney about how the fire started, with the playdoh and everything. But as I was telling the story, I got thinking more.

How did the playdoh get there in the first place?

Then it finally came to me. A light bulb just turned on in my head. I remember now. In the sixth grade I had to make playdoh and build a mountain for a project in one of my classes. I know you don't use the oven to make playdoh, but after I was done with the project, Justin came over, and he started playing with the playdoh. He started experimenting with it and put it in the oven.

Justin turned the oven on, for about 10 minutes with the playdoh inside, but it didn't do anything. We must have forgot about it in there, that's how the fire started. It was all coming back to me.

I was the fault of the fire. If only I didn't let Justin put it in the oven, we wouldn't have left it in there, and none of this would have happened.
