All around us, stood skeletons that were headed to us like zombies. The fact was there wasn't much space to make a dash for it and there wasn't any indication how to beat em down made the situation pretty bad. As we backed ourselves away from them, a root happened to clear the way. The zombies were pierced like tofu and were flung far away. I grabbed their hands and made a dash for it. Getting out of here was top priority, I absolutely refuse to be worm chow because of this chaos happening around us.

As the exit came into sight, we took just one step outside the gate when we were stopped in our tracks. A skeleton hand had grabbed Michelle's ankle and refused to release it's grip. Within a few seconds, we would know then it was actually to our benefit and probably the savior of our lives.

As our attention was at the skeleton's hand, we only heard a loud crash behind us. There it was, two blades that were supposed to be immovable was crashed at the spot that we were supposed to be if not for the skeleton's arm. I was afraid to say it but I thought that the statues were coming to life. It wouldn't have been very weird seeing how everything there was doing so.

With a purple glow at it's eye area, as though the statues were booting up, they made their way t over the gate by jumping over and laded with a loud thud. The ground shook and we were in deep deep trouble. Honestly i did not know what to do but just run again. I took the knife i had and broke the grip on Michelle's leg. They both were staring with their mouths dropped to the floor while I noticed behind us a few roots were flying towards us.

Pushing their heads down to the ground, the roots crashed few centermeters above us and began retracting. Almost like it was reloading. The skeletons around the tree weren't looking so hot, they were broken so badly, it didn't look like they were about to stand up at any time however they were still coming out from all over the hill so at least not all of the roots had time to pay attention to us. Self preservation at it's finest.

I rattled my head for ideas and within a few moments, an insane idea just came into my head.

"Guys, keep running, just get away from the roots. I'll do something about this." I said to the both of them before running back towards the

"WAIT! ANDREW! WHERE THE HECK ARE YOU GOING?" They shouted at me.

"Don't worry about me, just get out of harms way first!"

"Just why are you headed there? Do you want to be killed or something?"

"Just get back!"

What I was about to do was a gamble, all or nothing. It was currently the only thing I could do and the risks were too high for them to be around me so I had to try to do it alone.

As the skeletons were in disarray, I took the opportunity to mount one of the statues. It was tricky to get onto one of them without being squashed but when I managed to, I was riding one of the statues as if I was riding a bull at a rodeo. The statue tried to shake me off. It was shaking immensely with a lot of pressure however I gripped it tight. I had to wait for the right moment.

There it was, the perfect chance, I had to grab it. The other statue had grabbed it's sword, it was aiming at me. One quick slash and it was all over, the other statue had cut down the statue I was riding. It wasn't intelligent, it was just designed to attack intruders and that's exactly what it did. One statue down, one left. This time I had another plan in mind. I once again climbed the remaining statue but this time, the statue was about to become my bait.

I took the book out and waved the book multiple times in the directions of the tree. The moment I saw the roots were pointing at my direction, it was time to leave. A surge of roots pierced through the statue like knife on butter. My gamble worked, the tree roots weren't intelligent either, they were basically high speed bullets, once they had a target, they could not change directions.

As I was thinking just how perfectly I executed my plan. I was reminded how I should never celebrate till the danger was over.

"ANDREWWWWW!"

As I heard my name being called, time just slowed down immensely for me. As I turned my head around, there it was... A root pointed at my body. I couldn't move, couldn't dodge, was it the end?
