Chapter - 13 (v2-rewritten)

  As the minutes grew closer and the metallic beast grew closer to them with each step it took, Ethena was considering her plans on what to do. She'd rather not reveal any of her abilities infront of a stranger. That girl Snow was a liability rather than an asset. With the obvious fearful face that Snow was putting on, it was unlikely that she would be the one making the first move. However thinking about it, Snow's moves were not normal, she just might be pretending to be afraid. Ethena was so irritated by this, she wanted to blast both irritations away, she could but she isn't going to. With no idea where or when the final 'goal' of the survival test is, Ethena wasn't going to waste her strength without any purpose.

Getting into idle thoughts while being chased wasn't that good of an idea, as the beast came close enough, it begun bending down to strike it's prey. With the intention to devour both of them, it begun trying to bite them with it's razor sharp teeth. They could hear the loud clanging of it's teeth just ringing in their ears with each attempt. When they thought that they were getting used to the pattern, there came a new one, it turned around and swung it's tail, like a broadsword, it smashed through everything that was in it's way. Though fortunately, both of them had already ducked, rolled and were sneaking away while the beast's back was turned.

After placing some distance from the beast, Snow was huffing and puffing like no tomorrow. Ethena guessed that perhaps she wasn't the type that had ample stamina.

"Oy, Snow, what the heck did you bring along with you?"

"What do you mean Ethena?"

"Your legs, there's a few of them."

"A few of wha- NOOOOOO, Ewwwww! Get them off! Get them off!"

Snow had not realize before but her legs had a few little critters tag along with her. They were blood sucking leeches, these were kind of a peculiar species. once they latch onto the host, they blend their color according to the area they attach to. Even secretes certain juices that prevent the host from finding out so soon, by numbing the targeted area. Once it blends in, it wouldn't be that easy to spot.

"Aren't they cute. Practically like a natural weapon. Once stuck to the host, it's really difficult to remove. Plus the amount of blood they suck out can make a person go see Hades if they don't notice it soon enough."

" How are they cute? It's creeping me out! It's easy to get them off but I don't wana touch them. It's just so nasty. Why aren't you helping me get them off!?"

"Easy? Those things may not look like much but it takes bare minimum one ton of strength to remove it. That's around 907kg of weight. Do i look like I have 907kg of weight to spare?"

As snow started trying to push them off with her finger unwillingly, the leeches one by one just dropped onto the ground, looking like they stopped moving.

"Just how did you manage to do that? Under that skinny appearance, is there a ton of muscle that I can't see? There should have been no way you could have removed those leeches."

"For your information, you are not the only one who's talented here. I picked up a few tricks here and there. But that was so disgusting. I hate it here."

"You're the one who followed me in the first place. Just stop complaining before we get eaten. Once we are clear of danger, we are immediately separating."

"What? Why? I thought we were friends."

"Just like I told those groupies to bugger off, you're no exception. Plus I don't recall being friends with you."

"Don't be shy Ethena, don't worry, no matter what happens, I'll be sticking to you like glue the entire time."

As Ethena was about to tell Snow that wasn't the point at all, there were multiple footsteps headed their way, it was loud enough to tell that it was a large group and whatever it was it might not be good news.

Ethena and Snow both prepared to run away from the noise when the group in question came into view. There they were, a group of students with panicked looks on their faces, trying to make their escape from the beasts that were chasing them.

Ethena looked closely and it was something that she read during her studies, it was from the same place that the Tyrannosaurs Rex was from, the mortal realm. The hunters were a different type than the T-Rex, they weren't as huge as the T-Rex however in exchange they were fast creatures that hunted in groups. Their fast legs wouldn't let their prey run very far and the moment they stop, they would be surrounded and be torn limb from limb. It wouldn't be a pretty sight. Though once again these beasts weren't a hundred percent organic, they had metallic parts just like the T-Rex. Just what were these extinct creatures doing here....
