Trigger Warning ⚠️

"We really missed you" Lynn said pulling me in for another hug.

"I missed you all too. I'm sorry I never called or messaged you guys. I really regret not doing so, but anyway, I wanna hear about how you guys are". I said smiling at them, while we all walked out of the building.

"How about we talk about this over some pizza? Ill buy." Brian offered.

"The usual?" Alex questioned.

"Well duh, now hurry up and get in. Leah do you want a ride or are you following?" Brian asked me.

"Yeah, I'll just follow." I replied.

"Ooo can get a ride with you, Leah? We gotta have our time without these two weirdos." Lynn explained.

"Hey! First of all we're not weird and second of all what if I wanted ride with Leah?" Alex pouted.

"Well, sucks to be you, Babinski. Cmon Leah, let's blow this popsicle stand." Lynn said taking my arm as we walked away from the boys.

We walked away towards my car and I could hear Alex pouting and Brian telling him to suck it up.

"So, Lyndsey, how have you been?" I asked unlocking the car.

We both got in the car and I started the car, and she began to speak.

"I've been really good actually. I mean, our band is starting to take off. We signed to Rise Records. We released our album back in November, and we just announced a tour. We're gonna be opening up for Sleeping With Sirens and Pierce The Veil, with Mallory Knox. That's why we asked for a photographer, because we need someone to shoot this huge tour."

"Dude that's insane! You guys are literally opening for two huge bands and just, ah I'm so proud of you guys!". I said giving her a high five before I backed out of the parking space.

"So, are you gonna tell me why you mysteriously showed up back in Boston?"

I felt her eyes pierce through me while I watched the road. I couldn't tell her everything right now, no. In fact, I didn't even want to tell her at all.

"Technically speaking, Ive been here for like 6 months now, so, I technically didn't mysteriously show up" I said innocently, getting a little chuckle out.

"You're kidding right? Leah, that bullshit doesn't work on me, tell me what happened" Lynn snapped.

"Nothing, it's just things didn't work out in L.A. It's super nice and has cool opportunities but you know, things just didn't work out right is all."

"Oh okay, so in a city full of opportunities, things didn't work out? Like absolutely nothing, so you decided to come back and somehow you're an amazing photographer and didn't manage to get a single call, e-mail, or message from anyone in L.A.?" Lynn said raising an eyebrow.

I sighed. "Okay, Okay." I said, tears starting to form.

Lynn saw I began to cry and she backed off a bit, rubbing my arm in reassurance.

"When I first moved out to L.A. it was wonderful. Derek and I were happy, his parents were wonderful and still are, and my career was just starting out. I was so excited for everything. Derek had started going to UCLA to major in business, just like his dad, and I applied to go to L.A Film School." I said, a few more tears falling from my eyes.

"Him and I went to a party at UCLA and well–fuck."

"Hey hey it's okay, take your time." Lynn said rubbing my back.

"I got a little too wasted at that party an-and I remember being tucked in by Derek and his friends walking in. His friend Zach walked up and said something, I couldn't understand him though. All I remember was him saying "What's yours is mine bro" then e-everything went-" I couldn't even finish my sentence without bursting in to tears and feeling so uncomfortable in my own skin.

The reassuring look on Lynn's face disappeared. I couldn't bare to look at her in the eyes, I knew she knew what had happened and I couldn't feel more ashamed of myself.

She pulled me into a hug, keeping her grasp firm. I couldn't help but cry into her shoulder, not even holding back a single tear, sniffle, or sharp inhale.

"I'm so so fucking sorry, Leah. So so fucking sorry." She said squeezing me a little bit harder.

"I-I just couldn't bare to stay there after that. I felt broken and powerless like I did that night. Derek pretended like nothing even happened. He just went on being the normal asshole he's always been." I said wiping my cheek that was covered in tears. "That's why I'm back here. I left without saying a word to him, left a majority of my stuff there, and now we're here."

"I'm so sorry, Leah. Is there anyway we can get back some of your stuff?" Lynn questioned.

"No no, absolutely not." I said

Puzzled, Lynn asked, "And why not?"

Feeling ashamed of myself once again, I cleared my throat. "I may or may not have taken a lot of his money" I said, feeling guilty.

"Leah! What the hell? I mean I don't really blame you, but what the hell?" She said half joking and half not. "How much money did you take out?" She asked.

"Oh, you know, like almost 10,000" I said casually hoping she wouldn't hear what I said.

She laughed until she saw the serious look on my face. "No fucking way." She said nudging my arm. I pushed out a small smile, chuckling a bit.

"Maybe" I said smirking.

"Yo you're not fucking around with me are you?"

"It was more like 9 thousand somethin, but i don't know the exact. I just took whatever was left, and well, left." I said shrugging.

She shook her head in amazement. "No fucking way the goody two shoes Leah, got away with that much money" She said laughing.

"What can I say? I think I'm the next Houdini." I said, pretending to have a wand and waving it around.

Just then, Lynn's phone buzzed.

"It's Alex, Jesus Christ this boy is gonna be up my ass all the time now cause you're here." She said rolling her eyes, answering the phone.

"Yes, relax crybaby we're leaving right now."

I chuckled. I was glad to be back but it felt weird. I felt incomplete still. Unhappy, disgusted with myself and what I went through. I felt a sign of relief, because Lynn was the first person I ever told. It felt nice that after being gone so long I could always rely on her to be there for me.

"Jeez this kid, told you he was gonna be up my ass." She said.

I pushed out a laugh, trying to be enthusiastic.

Lynn gave me that look, meaning she knew I was faking it.

"You okay?" She said giving a reassuring smile.

"Yeah, yeah I'm fine. I've been better but I'm just glad to be with you guys again." I said faking it again.

I definitely wasn't okay.
