I remember the taste of time
When I thought you were mine.
I remember the taste of hope and feeling like I finally found someone I could give all of me to.
All the ugly parts that no one wanted to see
All the broken parts inside
From all the battles I've fought and the wars I've won.
But the taste of time was a lie
Because I did not have all of you
You were scattered like puzzle pieces
Trying to fit into multiple puzzles.
And what hurts the most
Is that when I thought I had you,
You didn't want me
You wanted her.
Sometimes tastebuds are as deceiving as the heart,
It all tasted sweet at the beginning
But it left cavities in my heart.
