I sat down under the shade of a big oak tree. It was lunch time, and I didn’t feel like eating with anyone today, actually eating at all. So, here I was reading. “Hey,” said as voice. I looked up and found myself getting lost in a pair of gray eyes.

“Hi,” I manage to say as I pull my eyes away from Noah’s and down at my book.

“What are you reading?” Noah asked as he sat down with me.

“A book I got from my gran-uhm from Julie,” I said as I forced my eyes on the page and away from Noah’s eyes.

“Life in the Ocean,” Noah said as he read the title. I couldn’t help it, and I smiled up to him.

“It’s amazingly accurate,” I replied.

“And how do you know how life on the ocean is?” Noah asked. I looked to the sky.

“My dad and I use to go to the water all the time. We spent as much time as possible in the ocean. It was truly amazing,” I said as I sighed and suddenly REALLY missed my parents.

“Sounds like it was,” Noah said in a low voice. I quickly wiped the tear that had escaped.

“Anyway, I should get going,” I said as I stood up. Noah did too.

“Are you sure?” Noah said as he stepped over to me. I quickly stepped back and nodded.

“Yeah, I’m sure,” I said as I quickly walked away from him. I was almost near the classrooms when I looked back to the big oak tree, and Noah was gone. I sighed as I turned back around, and in front of me stood a tall slender girl with wavy black hair, dark blue eyes, and had a very nice tan going for her. “Hello,” I said with a smile. The girl frowned at me. Then she tossed her long hair over her shoulder and snapped her fingers. Suddenly 4 wolves were surrounding me. “Shit,” I mumbled as I stepped away from the girl and wound up in between the wolves.

“I don’t believe we’ve met yet,” the girl said. I was encircled by the wolves and the girl was walking around them.

“Hi, I’m Meredith,” I said with a small finger wave.

“I know who you are, but I think it’s time you knew who I was,” the girl said as she glared at me. I looked around at the other wolves surrounding me. “You’ve already met my brother, Dillon,” she said as she pointed to the biggest wolf from the circle.

“Hey Dillon,” I said and he growled at me.

“I’m Penelope, the future pack leader,” she said as she looked at her long shiny nails as if she were bored.

“Nice to meet you Penelope,” I said as I looked for a gap in the circle.

“We’ll see how you feel after I’m threw with you,” Penelope said.

“Uhm....you know I’m not sure what I did to upset you, but it’s not too late to just....let bygones be bygones,” I said with a shrug. Suddenly Penelope was a wolf and was pouncing towards me. I managed to dodge her sharp teeth only to wind up being pulled down by my shirt by another wolf. Then the sky darkened and the wind picked up. “Let me go!” I said as I shoved a wolf of me and stood up only to have 5 wolves snapping at my ankles. Then it was raining, more like pouring. And then I felt a sharp pain on my shoulder, and then everything went black.

“She SO did it,” a voice said. I tried to open my eyes but they felt very heavy. Then I felt small drops land on my cheek, and then I realized I was lying on grass. I opened my eyes and stared at the dark clouds hanging over me as it just began to rain. Sharp pains ran from my arm and then I could hear more voices.
