Embrace Your Empathy
You don’t understand,
How much it hurts,
When you push me down,
And stomp on my dreams
You don’t understand,
How hard I cry,
When you slap my face,
And tell me I should die,
You don’t understand,
How silent my screams,
When you lock me up,
And throw away the key,
You don’t understand,
The hatred burning in my gut,
When you grab my neck,
And spit on my face
You don’t understand,
The pain in my heart,
When you leave me alone,
Till my stomach is sore
You don’t understand,
The tears in my eyes,
Running down my cheeks,
When you tie me to this chair
You don’t understand,
The curses in my mouth,
When you do unspeakable things,
That make me squirm
You don’t understand,
The desperation in my voice,
When you abuse me,
When I ask you to stop
You don’t understand,
The bruises lining my body,
When you kick me; beat me,
After I scream out for help
You won’t understand,
The malicious glint in my eyes,
When I break free of these chains,
And escape from my cell
You won’t understand,
The loathing in my mind,
When I tiptoe down the stairs,
And see you with your beer
You won’t understand,
The detestation in my words,
When I say “hello”,
And you startle in fear
You won’t understand,
My motives when,
I pick up that knife from the counter,
And hold it dear
You won’t understand,
When I edge closer and closer,
Muttering spells,
Of mutilation and maiming
You won’t understand,
When you cower in the sofa,
Pleading me to stop,
And I cackle in your ear
You won’t understand,
When I take this to your heart,
And stab you 8 times,
The amount of years here I have been locked
You won’t understand,
When I pull away,
Shining in blood,
And your chest starts to ache
You won’t understand,
When I laugh low and long,
And stab you again,
Just to smell your fear
You won’t understand,
When you try to scream,
And instead you gurgle,
As your mouth fills with blood
You won’t understand,
When I kiss your lips,
And take a photo,
So I can remember you forever
And you still won’t understand,
When you’re buried and blessed,
And I am taken away,
To the mental hospital to rest
