Paw Prints
Paw prints:
Those muddy trails
You left
On my
Heart.
Those sharp claws
Ripping delicate shreds of desire [tangled strips of my own white skin]
Every inch of me covered in
Burning; molten lava [my own crimson blood stains these sheets]
The taste of love
Is wine
Dark, cold, red: a bottomless abyss
Like the smashed bottles by my feet
Lips, tongues, mingled
Sweet embraces (but they’re only sweet because of the liquor that stains our teeth)
The feel of love is hurt
Groping hands
Sloppy kisses
The feeling of being violated
And the urge to never trust again.
And still, you left muddy paw prints on my heart, but I only ever loved you ‘cause you loved me.
