When I got home, no one was there.
Thank God.
I wonder why I’ve never met mom’s husband’s family… Well, his stuff is downstairs in boxes; I wonder what could be in it all…
In the basement, I had to switch the light on and made my way through a pile of clothes that once belong to Hailee… Let me tell you Hailee has a crap load of clothes… I finally found a box that said ‘William Miller,’ which is my step father’s name.
I unfolded the box and went through piles of papers only to find a marriage paper to a girl named ‘Misty Nelson,’ many love letters, a birth certificate to a ‘Rina Alexis Miller,’ then a divorce papers. Rina was born the same year I was.
Alright, so mom’s husband has a daughter named Rina with a chick named Misty… I wonder if my mom knows.
I heard a door slam shut, then someone started coming down the stairs. I threw the papers back into the box and turned around to see who was coming.
“Anyone down here?” It’s just mom’s husband.
“U-uh, yeah… It’s me, Dawn; I was just looking through Hailee’s clothes.” Hopefully he won’t know it’s a lie.
“Why are you by my box then?” He made his way through Hailee’s clothes now and finally reached me, he had his eyebrows raised – like he was questioning me.
“I was… just taking a break…There’s a lot of clothes to go through.” I bit my lip; William is getting very close to me… He backed me up to the wall. “What do you want anyway?” He was so close that I can smell the scent of his cologne.
“I came down here to get something out of my box… What kind of clothing are you looking for?”
“…A dress.” I lied.
It’s a very good lie, because I don’t own any dresses… Except for that purple one but I already worn it. Let’s just hope he doesn’t see through my lie.
“Well, if you do something for me…I will buy you a dress.” William wrapped his arms around me, which made me instantly uncomfortable.
“Like, what would I have to do?” I looked down; I swear if he doesn’t let me go…
William hands lingered to my butt and he gripped me closer to him and before I could scream or push him away he kissed me.
