I had given Ali a tour of both buildings and we were now just sitting in her car. My leg was hurting from all the walking.
"You look very prideful today." she said, laughing at my attire.
"Hey, spirit day is the real deal here, it's go big or go home." I said, defending myself.
"Speaking of, I should probably head back. Do you want me to take you home?" she asked. I probably won't be getting a ride from Alex. I also didn't really want to be in the car so she could ask me about what was going on.
"I'm good, thanks. Have a good day." I said, giving her a slight embrace. I then got out of her car and she drove away.
I let out a sigh. It wouldn't take that long to walk home I guess. I started walking.
It wasn't all too bad. It was a nice day. Great day for a football game. I should be able to get a ride back for the game.
It took about 20 minutes to get home. My leg ached. I was exhausted. The sun beating down on me didn't help.
I should have gotten a ride from Ali.
I walked up the steps and onto the platform. When I got to the door, I reached into my pocket to get my keys. My lanyard wasn't there. They were probably in my backpack.
I searched through the entire thing, practically turning it inside out. Great. I can't get in through the garage because we lock it.
I pulled out my phone. 3%. I dialed Alex. I probably left them in her car.
2 rings and it went to voicemail. Come on Alex. I called again.
This time I got 3 rings until she declined the call. I decided I'd leave a voicemail.
"Alex, I know we're not on the best terms but I really need you to–"
The line went dead.
I looked at my phone to see it powering down. Shit.
I looked around. There was no way I was getting into my house. I sat down and leaned against the wall.
I was starting to fall asleep so I got up again. I looked up at the window above the door. I might be able to get it open.
I jumped up and gripped the top of the door frame. I reached up and started to pull the window up. I got it halfway when my hand started to slip.
I dropped down onto the cement steps below, landing feet first. My weight seemed to have all gone to my right leg, because when I hit the ground, the prosthetic dug into my skin.
God, I really do hate this thing. I sat down again and pulled up my pant leg. I slid the prosthetic leg down a bit so it wasn't against my skin.
When I did, blood had already started running. I cannot stand to see blood. It makes me sick.
I could feel myself getting light headed. I closed my eyes. This was all just great. I need to relax.
When I opened my eyes, I was in my bed. I took in the feeling of my comforter and sighed. I rolled over to center myself in the bed but I was stopped.
I turned around and saw Alex next to me. She was starting at me. I was confused as to why she was in my bed with me.
"Alex... what are you doing here?" I asked. I got no response from the girl. Something about this was off.
Her eyes looked less bright. Almost as if they lost their liveliness. She leaned in and kissed me.
I was happy that she was no longer mad at me. She pulled away for a second and then continued.
