~ Chapter 6 ~
* Eva's P.O.V *
I had taken the first cab I'd found and made my way over to Wayne Manor. I needed answers, did Bruce know all along?! I was trying to focus on telling him the details of the plan that Jack told me about but I just couldn't help thinking about if Bruce had lied to me. Had he known yet left me in all this pain?!
I pushed the little buzzer outside the metal gate and looked up at the surveillance camera. I waited patiently before I heard another buzz as the door unlocked. I made my way through the gardens and waited for someone to open the front door. I may have gotten a little impatient and rang the door bell twice. A few seconds later the door opened and I was greeted by a..boy?
He had jet black hair and sparkling blue eyes and look like he was about the age of a high school student.
"Umm..is Bruce or Alfred home?" I asked.
"Yes, come in, I'm sure Alfred already buzzed you in" He spoke.
I slowly stepped inside feeling a little extra awkward.
"Do you want me to take your jacket?" The kid asked.
"Uh-yeah sure, thank you." I said as he reached for the back of it.
"Say, are you,by any chance, the girl I talked to on the phone a few days ago?!"
I paused for a minute to recall the name of the person who had answered me that time I tried to call.
"..Richard?" I asked.
"Yeah! Eva right?!" He replied enthusiastically.
"Yup, that's me." I gave him an awkward smile.
"How'd you know?"
"Welll..I may have pried and asked Bruce about you after you called. Besides he has some pictures of the two of you in the family gallery. Also, no offence, but I may have identified you by the awkwardness in your voice" He grinned.
I gave him a shy smile but didn't know what to say.
"Relax! I'm just kidding! Don't be so tense!" He jabbed my arm.
"You can call me Dick" He spoke.
"It's nice to meet you, Dick. I'm just not at a good place right now, so I'm sorry you get to meet me like this. Can I talk to Bruce? It's urgent." I replied.
"Yeah sure, have a seat, I'll call him down." He strolled off.
Who is that guy?! I thought to myself.
A few minutes later Bruce came down the stairs and I stood up as he approached me.
"Ev, hey..how are you doing?" He asked.
"I'm good, listen we need to talk. It's the Court." I said.
He stared at me for few seconds and I could feel a sense of worry in his eyes.
"Come on, let's go."
He walked over to the piano in the main living room and started hitting a few keys. What is he doing?! Is he really about to serenade me right now?!
"Bruce! What are you doing?! This is urge-" Before I could finish my sentence the tiles of the floor started shifting and transformed into a stairway.
He looked back at me and then started descending them. I followed behind him wide eyed as he placed his palm on a hand scanner and a metal door slid open.
