Karkat x Reader

Chapter 5

Once you, Sollux, and Karkat had finished your breakfasts, they lead you out the door to go meet all their so-called "Buddies". You were beginning to understand the new human and troll terminology, but some were still... Undefined... Your vocabulary had developed more slang such as "Fuck" and "shit" and more. It is quite interesting, as Karkat says them quite frequently to all his "Friends" but tends to mumble them more around you. You were beginning to wonder if his feelings were still strictly platonic, or if he was like Kankri in the past. A celibate. You could be wrong though, as he loves "Rom-Coms" or "Romantic Comedies", as you've heard from Sollux.

Once you reached a park, you saw well over 15 people, humans and trolls, standing there. As you had met many people there, and once again, learned new language, there were some encounters that were more... Psychotic. Such as the human, Dave. Within a few minutes of talking to him, and him making strange faces at you, Karkat ran over and dragged you away from him. As Karkat said, "He was hitting on you, Y/N." You're not entirely sure what that means, but you have a hint.

Another interesting encounter was the human Jake. He spoke very properly and you and him got along quite well. He asked to be your "Best Friend", and with a little clarification, you and him settled as being moirails. You were hit on by Eridan as well. Being a sea-dweller, of course no one expected less from him. But Feferi, a nice Peixies for once, came and dragged him away by his fins. Ouch.

There were Gamzee and Feferi, who seemed to be quite friendly, and you'd have to ask Gamzee about his scars on his face later. Vriska and Aradia, who seemed like bad new to you. Vriska was mean and Aradia was just... Unsettling. Same with Equius... He was quite creepy around you. Kanaya offered to buy you new clothes as the outfit you were wearing, Karkat's spare shirt and sweatpants were as "Glamorous" as you deserved in her eyes. Even though the clothes were quite comfortable to you.

The shirt was soft, the pants were too, and he let you borrow socks and shoes, which kept your feet nice and warm. So, you didn't really see the problem with the outfit, even though Kanaya did. After visiting all of Karkat and Sollux's friends, not including the older "Siblings" as they call them, you three went to Karkat's house instead of Sollux's. As soon as you walked in the door, something was dropped onto the floor, broke, and there was a loud Non-Troll shriek. Then a giant, white crab came to the door and started yelling at you.

"SHUT THE FUCK UP, DAD. THIS IS MY NEW FRIEND, Y/N." Karkat said, then grabbed your hand and pulled you past him. Crabdad then started clacking at Karkat, something you couldn't understand. Karkat growled and responded with more clack-like noises, then had you and Sollux follow you to his living room.

"Karkat, w9uld y9u please inf9rm me 9f wh9 y9ur new female friend is? I find it triggering that y9u have n9t intr9duced me yet." You recognized the older troll almost instantly. In a different timeline, he had been your friend.

"Kankri! Is it... Is it really you?" You asked, standing up to be face to face. He seemed surprised that you knew his name, but he just went with it.

"S9, why d9 y9u kn9w my name? I find it triggering that i have n9t met y9u 6ef9re, and yet y9u kn9w me." He said, slightly narrowing his eyes at you.

"Well, I knew you in a different timeline. We were good friends even. Of course, you don't know me in this one. But i still remember you. So, um, may I have permission to hug you?" You asked shyly.

Kankri seemed to think for a minute before gently pulling you into an embrace, Karkat scowling and mumbling to himself while the two of you awkwardly hugged each other. Sollux just got video games set up. Eventually, Kankri let go, you thanked him, and he left after saying he'd see you later with a smile.

Karkat finally perked up after the other Vantas left. "Finally. About time he left..." Karkat said, scowling in his brother's direction. "Oh come on Karkrab, I just haven't seen him in forever." You said smugly. You picked up a game controller and stared at it confused. "What is this supposed to do?" You asked Sollux. "You play game2 wiith iit. Obviiou2ly." He said, shrugging. You only nodded and proceeded to look at the controller.

"So what does this do?" You asked, pressing a button. "Oh. That'2 ju2t the jumpiing button. Iit doe2n't do much iin the menu 2creen, though."
