Chapter Eleven: Too Many Mistakes To Count
Spencer's POV:
Spencer was shocked. She couldn't move.
She had forgotten to call Jack, and now that text...
"Spencer?" Cody asked her, bringing her back to reality. She could hear the pain in his voice and see it in his eyes. All she could think about was that she caused it.
"I...I," she stuttered, not able to find any words.
She looked up at Cody's eyes and immediately realized it was a mistake. The pain that was swimming in them was too much to bare, so she focused her attention on the ground.
"Is this some kind of game for you?!" Cody shouted, scaring her with his outburst. She had never seen him angry before since he's always been all jokes and fun. And it was frightening.
"What? No! Of course not!" she replied.
"Then what is it to you? Because it sure as hell seems like a joke! Who is this anyway?!" he yelled, shoving her phone in her face.
Spencer was too shocked at the surrealism of the situation. She'd ruined everything.
"Don't answer that," Cody commanded quieter, shaking his head with disgust. He threw her phone at her, still shaking his head.
"Cody..." Spencer started.
"No," he instructed, putting his hand up and effectively silencing her. "Just don't."
Not before giving her one last painful and angry look, he stormed out of the room slamming the door behind him.
What have I done? Spencer thought to herself.
She sure as hell wouldn't be staying there any longer. She checked the times for departing planes .to New York, and booked a flight for the soonest one. After calling a cab, telling it to meet her at the end of the street instead of at the house, she packed all of her things and snuck out of the back door at nightfall.
When she put her things in the trunk, she climbed into the back seat and directed the cab driver where to go. Once he started driving, Spencer sunk into her chair.
How could she have messed things up so quickly? She never wanted to hurt Cody. When she had kissed him, she truly meant it, and decided it would be easier to break things off with Jack. She hasn't found the courage to do it while she was out, so she decided to call him when she got back. That's when she walked in on Cody after he finished reading the text.
The look on his face was one she knew extremely well, one she used to wear often: Heartbreak.
Anguish coursed through her body, and she finally began to feel the true extent of her wrong-doings. She messed everything up. If only she had just called Jack before, she wouldn't be in this mess!
She felt like face-palming herself. Instead, after she boarded the plane, she buried herself in a blanket she brought for the ride, despite it being July down south, and cried.
She cried for breaking the trust of her best friend and soulmate. She cried for hurting him. She cried for fearing what she would face when she got home, what would happen with Jack and her.
She cried for just screwing everything up that was perfect in her life.

Spencer didn't know when she fell asleep, but when she woke up, her plane was about to land.
Taking out a small compact, she let out a sigh of relief when she noticed her eyes weren't red and puffy. They were just like they normally were.
When the plane finally landed, she rolled her suitcase to the entrance of the airport and hailed a cab fairly quickly.
She told the taxi driver where to go, and once she arrived at her house, she payed the driver and told him to keep the change before heading inside.
She took out her keys and unlocked the doors.
"I'm home!" she called out to Jack. "I got home a little early and was thinking maybe we could..."
She stopped talking immediately and froze where she stood. She was too shocked to say anything.
There Jack was, lying on her bed, with his arms wrapped around her best friend, Miranda.
A/N: Shocking, huh?
Anyway, short chapter, but comment and vote! :)
