1 day leftAngelina's POV
We stayed frozen in place while mom, from outside, opened the door with no password needed. Then, without saying a thing, she walked to the middle of the place.
"Sorry, how long has the mother of this girl been replaced by you?" She asked staring at Sebastian. "because I think she forgot to tell me about this little change."
I felt like slapping her. What was she thinking? Hurting us with that treatment? She doesn't have the privilege of entering places like that and drown people that way- But when I was preparing the reply she deserved Sebastian put a hand on my thigh. "I'm sorry Mrs, but you don't have any idea what we've been through."
He pulled me out of the bed. We stepped sideways, to the door's direction. I was trying not to look at Mom but then, at this moment, she entered in front of us.
"HOW LONG, ANGELINA FIRENZE?!" She pointed at our intertwined hands, her eyes expelling smoke. I pretended I didn't listen and looked down, feeling a little dizzy. I was about to throw up. Sebastian dodged her so we could get to the exit.
Mom grabbed my arm. "Who do you think you are? I'm talking to you! Who gave you the permission to go camping? Who gave you the permission to do this obscenities in the middle of a morgue?"
That's when Sebastian broke the pace, a huge wrinkle on his forehead.
"Wait, camping??"
"Morgue???"
"Oh... so beautiful..." Mom said. "you two are so in love no one read the sign boasting MORGUE out there."
She sounded like a sarcastic mad woman.
"And who told you we were camping?" Sebastian asked.
"Doctor Gene. ¡And-"
"But when he told you that?"
"Since the last time I saw my daughter!"
"Hell!!!" He hit a fist into the nearest bed. It shook the base violently, filling the room with metal vibration.
"Sebastian!" I felt mom's eyes going out of orbit with his curse. "What-"
"Don't you see they are always lying?!" He faced me, eyes glittering. "Why do they lie?"
"Isn't it obvious? To protect us-"
"They are fucking liars!" He grabbed both of my arms, nearing his face from mine. There was something there he wanted to show and I couldn't see. "They fucking lied to your mother..."
Something noisy began to noise. Mom was staring murderously at us- and had a pepper spray in hands.
"Boy, if you don't let go of my daughter..."
Her gaze was now locked with his mouth. She had seen the piercing.
Mom abhorred those kind of things- it was for brainless teenagers who would not think before making holes on the body.
The spray trembled slightly and she pressed it right into Sebastian's face. But the tube was placed wrong and the acid hit her eyes instead.
"Mom! What you'd done?!"
She screamed and cried, tears and acid mucking all her face.
"Is your mother usually like that?!" Sebastian asked, closing his arms around hers and pulling her up. I shook my head while he cupped Mom's face and rubbed her eyes avidly. At first Mom only scratched, but suddenly her crying ceased and she stayed immobile, just feeling his hand.
If she wasn't my mother I would kill her for enjoying that moment of touching.
"It's okay Mrs Firenze," he said. "You don't have to be so insecure about your daughter. She is the best person I've ever known, and I'm completely in love with her."
Mom pushed his hands off. Her eyes were bigger and better than ever. "You kids know nothing about love. Angelina is coming with me, back to LittleMountain."
"What!?" I cried out. Sebastian nudged my leg. I glanced at him and then to the door. We were so close.
"Mom-"
"Honey, have you ever stopped to think about me, just for a few minutes? Since your father died I feel nothing at all..."
"And then you met Sir- you met him because of Oxygen, mom. Oxygen changed our future, we can't go back now that we lived this!" I stepped hard on the ground. Tears were rolling down my cheeks and I didn't know where they came from.
Mom's eyes watered too. She looked at Sebastian and stared at him for a while, wandering all his face. And it paused at his mouth. "No"- she grabbed my arm. I clenched on Sebastian's shirt; he pulled me, twisted his body and took Mom's elbow, raising it on the air in a non-natural position. She screamed, and I threw myself towards the door, Sebastian holding my waist.
"Don't look back" he said.
Was I into a nightmare, unaware of it? I would never imagine meeting someone worth my disrespect at my mother just a few weeks ago. Now, we were running away together.
Again.
We turned a corner and found ourselves at the space I knew was the building's entrance hall. 'Great hall', I think it was called. Ironic, because the only great thing in there was the emptiness.
I glanced over my shoulder. Mom was not at sight. Where would she be? What would she be doing? Staring blankly at the wall? Cutting her pulse? "Ugh" I looked ahead, and bumped into him. "Ouch!" "Sorry!" "What are we gonna do?"
That's when I saw Sir in the other side of the hall passing people to get to me. He seemed worried and relieved at the same time, pushing the crowd and shouting something I couldn't understand. I bit my lip. "Car"
