My phone rings just as I'm about to close up my suitcase. I look at the caller ID and the last person I would expect to call me pops up.

Alyssa, my older sister.

"What the heck?" I question to myself before picking up the phone.

"Hello?" I say into the phone as I hear a bit of rustling.

"Bug?"

"Yeah, it's me. Whats up? I thought you were in Africa and weren't going to be back till the end of the summer?"

"Yeah, bit of a change of plans. Conor got sick and so James called me, with Conor screaming in the background. I couldn't bare to let James deal with all of that, so I'm on my way home now. I just got off the plane."

"Oh, I'm sorry to hear about that. Tell the little buddy that Aunty Bug said hi."

My older sister is 28, married, and has a great job as a lawyer. She's been in Africa for a case that she couldn't talk about because it was so important, but I guess when your 9 month old comes down with the flu, it's reason enough to head home.

"Yeah, I'll let him know. Anyways, I figured I'd call to see whats up with you. You're in London already, yeah?"

"Yeah, I've been here like, three weeks now I think." I say to her as I struggle to zip up my suitcase.

"You sound a bit distracted. Are you doing something?"

"Just finished up packing." I say and then mentally curse to myself.

"Packing? Where are you going?"

"Uh, I'm-" I pause, thinking to myself a minute. I could lie, but she'll know that I am. And then, she'd probably see the news anyways. Fuck. "I'm going to Los Angeles."

"Really?" she asks and I hum. "Wow, thats pricy. Who's going with you? Lyd?"

"Why does someone have to be coming with me?"

"Because I know that you wouldn't spend so much money to visit somewhere you lived for four years and probably hate by now."

"Fine, you're right."

"So? Who is it?" she questions me and I have to give up right here. I know she wouldn't let me get out of telling her.

"I'm going with my girlfriend."

Silence.

A moment later, I hear her again.

"Sorry, what was that? I was picking up my luggage."

"I'm going with my girlfriend."

Quiet again. I can hear the wheels of her suitcase against the floor through the phone.

"Uh, girlfriend?" She finally speaks out and I sigh.

"Yeah.. This wasn't really how I was planning on telling you."

"Bug," she says and I sigh, "I'm so happy for you!"

I stop in my tracks, I had been heading towards the kitchen, and stand there in shock.

"You're what?"

"My little bug is in love! When can I meet her?"

I don't answer for a second, my shocked state just settling down.

"Alex?"
