Chapter 21

I knock on Beatrice's door. A few minutes later she opens the door.
She smiles and waves us in. I set down the bags and she hugs me.

I pull away and try to act like it was great seeing her. 

"Alright I have the guest room set up for you two"she says motioning for us to follow her.

We go up the stairs and stop at a door. She opens it revealing a room.

The walls were a soft pink. A bed was against the wall and a TV on the opposite wall. A big window sat there bringing in natural light.

Beatrice leaves us to settle in. I sit on the bed and text mom we made it here safe.

I put my phone away and notice Ryder laying on the bed staring up at the ceiling.

I go over and lay next to him.

"What are you thinking about?"I ask,shifting to my side so I'm facing him.

He sighs. "Nothing just thinking about Sean. Do you think they'll catch him?"

Honestly I don't know if my parents would. They always catch people like him so what's different about this time.

I turn to him and reply. "Yes I think they'll catch him."

He nods understanding what I just said. He sighs one last final time before getting up and walking downstairs.

"I just need fresh air"he calls out.

"Okay"I call back. 

I sit up and run my fingers through my hair. I hear shuffling then the door opens.

Ryder stands there with a glass of tea in his hand. He walks over to me and hands it to me.

I take a sip and set the glass down.

"Beatrice said dinner will be ready in about 20 minutes"he says softly.

I nod. I haven't eaten in hours. Ryder didn't want to stop and eat on the way here.

So now he's gotten me grouchy.

Ryder nudges my arm. I look up at him.

"Let's go eat shall we"he says softly.

I stand up and take his hand in mine. We walk downstairs and see the table was set.

Beatrice sits at the table. She notices us and waves us over.
We sit down and start to dig in.

I think this week is going to be great for a change.
