Chapter 2 – Starting At the Top Is a Good Place to Begin

Daniel’s POV...

Number one is all planned out. Such a simple thing for what it was. Kenzie must have been  deprived of things to have this at the top of her list.

1. Have someone to mess around with all day e.g. eat chocolate, act like a 16 year old for once.

Simple and easy to do; I sure hope she likes it. I wanna make her forget for a day about having Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

My plan is to, in short, basically spend the day mucking about and being a 16 year old. Hopefully she likes what I have up my sleeve. Don’t worry nothing irresponsible, I just want her to like me rather than hate me, because I know I’ve been an idiot but I’m trying to fix that. I just anticipate it to work.

I have three things planned, if all goes according to plan she’ll have a great day with me.

Kenzie’s POV...

Daniel was so nice to me yesterday, he made me think. Maybe he has changed, or is willing to and all for me. I don’t know maybe there is hope of us; I sure hope there is.

Panic brought me out of my thoughts, alarm from riveting vibrations through my body. Calming down once I realised it was just my phone, leading to a huge cheesy grin replacing my shock of fear. The message was from Daniel, it read:

‘Hey Kenzie, I was just wondering if you’d like hang out with me today maybe?

Daniel xx’

That just made my smile a whole lot bigger, it was as bright as a 50 watt light bulb. Before I could think it through I text back a short reply,

‘Yeah, pick me up whenever

Kenzie xx’

I put my phone on the bedside table only for it to go off on a mad spree again across the table.

‘Hope you’re ready cause I’m kinda outside your house now \;

Daniel xx’

Gracefully I made my way out of my bed, peering through the window to find Daniel leaned against his car, eagerly waiting for me to reply by the cute expression on his face.

Racing to the door, I noticed I was yet to have gotten ready. Opening the door I yelled his name loud enough for him to lift his head, a goofy smile lazed across his face. Egging him in he looked at my appearance, chuckling under his breath.

“Hope you’re wearing that because you just forgot to get changed and not because you plan on heading out in that,” Daniel’s breath tickled my ear as he leaned in for a friendly hug.

“I only realised I wasn’t changed when I got to the door,” I muttered a bit embarrassed.

“That desperate to see my handsome face, are we,” He chuckled, causing my face to burn a brilliant red.

Daniel just laughed louder, “Don’t worry, I think you look cute!”

Shoving my face into his chest I mumbled a quick, “Be back in 5,” before pushing away from his warmth to sprint to the coolness of my room. All I could here the whole time I was getting ready was the joyous laughter belonging to my Danny. Wait what, did I just call him mine AND give him a pet name?! What’s got into me; oh wait he has. Eh, let’s just see what he has up his sleeve for the day.

**

We were in Daniel’s car, heading to god knows where due to the fact all I was seeing was black, so nothing, not what I had in mind but whatever floats Daniel’s boat. He blindfolded me so that I couldn’t see our destination, even though I would eventually.
