Apparently the billard place wasn't too far away so they didn't have to take the car, luckily. Because Ellie had decided for herself wasn't going to get in a car unless she absolutely had to. And this time she wasn't walking next to Brian because Sue 'claimed' her.
"So how come you know the guys? Are you in university with any of them?" She asked her curiously and smiled at her.
Ellie was just glad about the time away from Brian's attention. "I was in a class with Mike's girlfriend and we lived together for a while until she moved in with him, so that's how I met Mike and then last week Lynn invited Mary and me to hang out with the entire group.. and while Freddie was off flirting with Mary the others found out that I study photography.. And that's why I'm here. But basically we met over Mike's girlfriend."
"That's pretty cool. And Mary? Is she Freddie's girlfriend? I didn't know he has a girlfriend."
"Oh no, no, he doesn't, at least not yet, they only met last week. But who knows what will develop of that. They're so sweet together. She'll have to come here one day too, you will see what I mean. She's very sweet with him and he is with her." Ellie smiled and glanced at Freddie. "I don't know him very well yet, but from what I've heard she will definitely suit him."
Sue smiled at her and nodded. "Tell her to come with them next time. I'm curious about her."
"I will, yeah. She just had to work this time." She didn't really have to work but mentioning that would mean bringing up the entire Brian story and she wasn't in the mood for that.
But she hadn't thought about what Sue had in mind. "And you? Do you have your eye on anyone? Or do you have a boyfriend?"
"Oh no, no no I'm not the boyfriend type of girl, believe me." She knew that, it was true, and yet her eyes kept straying to Brian, betraying her words.
Sue seemed to have noticed that because she smirked. "Really? Not even a certain guitarist? I thought I saw something between you.."
"What? Oh no, no. Your eyes have definitely tricked you. There's nothing between Brian and me. He thinks there is, but no." Ellie shook her head and crossed her arms.
"Oh right okay. Sorry, I must have misunderstood something then." Even though Sue said that, Ellie knew she didn't quite believe it. But Ellie didn't say anything about that, she was just glad that the topic seemed to be done with. Because Ellie meant what she had said, there was nothing between Brian and her. Nothing worth mentioning at all. Right?
Ellie looked around the city, trying to keep her eyes from straying to Brian. But it was hard, because the past times they had hung out together, he had been basically non stop staring at her. And now, since they had gotten out of the car, he hadn't looked at her more than necessary. Ellie could say that because now it was her who was staring at him basically non stop. It was the other way around. To make sure he really wasn't looking at her a lot anymore. That was the only reason she stared at him. Definitely the only reason.
"It's a nice city," she eventually told Sue, wanting to break the silence. And wanting to avoid more questions regarding Brian.
Sue nodded. "Yeah, I guess. It could definitely be worse."
"Do you know where they are playing? Is it far from here?" Ellie was hoping Sue could give her a little information so she could think about how to set up her camera in the best way to get great pictures of the band.
Sue nodded again and pointed down the street. "In the city hall, it's just down that street to the right."
"The city hall?" Ellie asked surprised and glanced at Sue. "I thought it would be in a pub or something.."
