Broken
I don't believe in fairytales and happy endings. This is my life and this is what I want. Yeah, I'm not a princess or a happy popular girl with great parents, but I could live with that. Friends or No friends. Enemy or Not. Suffering or Not. Getting killed or Not. Having a Sweet Nightmare or Not. This is what I want. I might not be a regular kid with an open heart, but I learned that you can't keep your promises forever. Sometimes you have to break it to save someone you love. And that happened today.
BROKEN
1. JERK
My heart was beating every second as I try to speed faster. I kept one foot over the other in case I tripped into branches or rocks. My breathing wasn't its normal tone as I look straight into the darkness forest ahead of me. But then stopped running immediately as questions filled my head.
Why was I running? Who was chasing me? Or what? Was this another pathetic of my dreams? If it was I wouldn't I wake up? Why would I end up in a place I have never been before...or had been?
Suddenly I heard the bushes rustling behind me without the wind blowing. The hair at the back of my neck rose as I looked over my shoulder, saw nothing but the tall trees above me and the dark sky. I hugged myself tightly and started to find the trail I came from. As I walked slower than ever-because I used up the energy from running I gave up and just dragged my foot.
Another rustling sound came from my right-I turned my head looking for any unusual figure of a human being or anything in particular.
But again, nothing so I ignored it.
"there is nothing to be afraid of Katherine," I told myself rubbing my arms.
I gave up and finally decided that I was walking in circles for the last five minutes. There weren't any sounds of birds chirping-the only sound in the forest was the sound of my breathing and the foot I was dragging with.
Another minute past, though I didn't keep count. Another the sound started to continue...a wild animal's howl? Though, there were no wolves in New York.
"H-Hello? Is someone there?" I asked wanting my voice to be strong, but it came out as a soft whisper.
The sound of the wind answered, I hugged myself more tightly this time. Inside of my head, there was this small voice telling-no yelling at me to run. But I couldn't. I was weak to even move or think.
Out of the corner of my eye, there was a figure of someone moving close to me at my right. Before I could even turn around and escape, I felt an arm around my neck and a warm breath on my ear.
"One sound from you and you die," said a male voice threatening me.
Why don't you kill me now? I asked myself.
I took a deep breathe. "Do it," I challenged him. I've never thought of dying this way, until now. Though, there many ways to die and this isn't my first decision and I couldn't think of that first decision.
I waited for a sharp knife, but nothing. He just laid his arm there like he hadn't heard me.
"are you going to do it or not?" I asked a little louder this time.
He hesitated.
Why would someone hesitate of wanting to kill me?
Suddenly he pulled his arm back slowly and said, "get on my back."
For a second I thought jls was joking, but when I examined his face, he was doing a really hard math problem in his head couldn't decide the right answer. His height was only inches away from mine. Dark hair, leather jacket, black pants-it was night and I wasn't sure if that was the right color he was wearing. He look much of a bad boy-a player maybe. Like he charms girl and they would fall for him, then after getting to know them he would just change his mind and move on to get another one. And judging the way he pulled his arm back, I could tell he was a coward for not killing me. What a stupid person, I thought. I went back to reality when he took my wrist. My heart reacted and I pulled my hand back.
