The evening wind blew all around us. I clutched Joji's hand and peered around. Couples and kids were in other booths, complaining and worrying. I immediately felt uneasy as I saw the Ferris wheel operator jamming on the buttons, 100 some feet below us. I sat back and sighed. Joji looked at me apologetically. "This truly sucks, we should have just went home." Joji grumbles. I lay my head on his shoulder, closing my eyes. Then, the Ferris wheel started back up. I opened my eyes and lifted my head, smiling as we started to move. Then, the ride quickened. I looked at Joji in shock. "This is going way to fast!" I squealed over the whirring ride. Joji nodded and stared in horror. I looked at what he was looking at. Oh. My. God. One of the booths was sparking on its support bars. It then made a huge claaaaang!! Sound as one of the supports broke loose. The couple inside shrieked, clutching each other nervously. "It's gonna break!" I wailed, staring in shock as the ride wobbled. The ride only sped up, spinning faster. Another huge sound and then the booth tore off. Blood curdling screams filled the air as the couple and the booth flew away. My vision blurred, my head hurt. Is this real. I felt Joji squeeze my hand. "If you want to get off, we have to jump!" He yelled over the thrashing ride. I nodded frantically and felt Joji gently pull me up. We peered over the booth, the ride was making another trip around. A huge crowd gathered, looking up at us. A police car, a fire truck, but there was nothing they could do. "On three." Joji yelled, pointing at the ground. It got closer and closer. I nodded again, squeezing his hand. "One!" He shrieked. I bent my legs. Gripping Joji tightly. "Two!" I let out a whimper, my heart thudding a million miles an hour. "Three!" I jumped off the ride, falling for a split second. I hit the ground in one big rolling heap. My muscles burned and my arms went numb. I shrieked in pain as I looked down at my twisted ankle. Joji was beside me in a second. His head was bleeding and his hair was wild. He scanned my ankle and cupped his hands over his mouth, yelling in another direction. I tried to turn my head, but I couldn't. Hot tears rolled down my cheeks as Joji gripped me, his head bleeding more rapidly. A warm drop landed on my forehead. He reached up and thumbed it off, tears now streaking his face. I slowly closed my eyes, hearing Joji scream at me and shaking me. But sleep was calling. I fell in and out of a deep sleep. I was in something, moving. My body felt numb. My hand was warm. I tried arching my head down to see it, but I couldn't. I closed my eyes, darkness engulfing me. I opened them again, Joji standing over me. He stared at me sadly, his eyes swelling. I tried to remember what happened, but my head felt empty.
I woke up what felt like days later. I opened my eyes to an empty hospital room. "Not again." I mumbled, looking at the IV stuck in my arm. There was a knock on the door, and a nurse popped her head in. "Hello? Ms. L/n?" I smiled weakly and nodded. The lady stepped up and handed me a tray of food and some papers. "Just sign these and you will be free. Your purse is in the corner, and your 'friend' is down the hall. He hasn't quite woken up yet. If you need anything else, just holler." The lady stepped out of the room. I shoved the papers and things off of me and gently took out the IV and other cords and such. I rushed across the hall as fast as my nimble legs could take me. I knocked on the door. No response. I slapped myself on my forehead. He hasn't woke up yet, duh. I slowly pushed open the door. My eyes fell on Joji, his head lolled to the side and his mouth was slightly open. There were tubes in his nose and an IV in his arm. I walked to him and sat in the chair. I reached for his hand and held it tightly. "Please wake up." I mumbled, leaning forward to kiss his head. I slowly walked out of the room. I went into my room and took a shower. I got dressed and ate and signed papers. When I was done, I went home to Max. He was crashed on the couch, laying limp in a heap under a blanket. I closed the door behind me and he popped up. His face went from tired to relieved in a second. He jumped on me, hugging me tightly. "Oh y/n! Where the hell were ya? I got so worried and-" I cut him off with a groan. My stomach hurt and my arms throbbed. "Owwww, please, Max!" I squealed, feeling relief as he let go. "What happened to you, you look horrible!" I rolled my eyes and went of the kitchen for water. I couldn't believe we were still at the beach. I couldn't have been in the hospital for long. "We were on that Ferris wheel thing when it broke. We had to jump off. It was crazy, and it hurt really bad. Joji and I were in the hospital for what I'm guessing is a day. I came to visit you, he hasn't woken up yet." I shrugged as I finished, taking a long drink of ice cold water. "I thought you went home, then I couldn't find you anywhere!" Max ran to me again, putting his hand on my shoulder. "Let's go see Joji." He said, grabbing his keys.

"A WHAT?" I screamed, Max grabbing my hand so I didn't throw a punch at the nurse's face. "Ms. L/n, please calm down we are doing everything we ca-" I cut her off again. "What do you mean?! You're defiantly not helping him now!!" I shrieked, clenching my fists. "He will wake up when he does! Now please, calm do-" I cut her off again. "No! No! H....how l-long?" I asked, squeezing Max's hand. "The nurse looked at Joji, then at me. She shrugged. "Days, weeks, months, years. We don't really know." I gasped and fell into the chair, staring at Joji. It was silent for a moment. The beeping of Joji's heart monitor was the only sound. The nurse soon slipped from the room. Max put a hand on my shoulder, squeezing it. "I think it's time to g-" I cut him off too. I just wanted to be with Joji. "No. I'm staying here." I said, a tear traveled down my cheek. A coma.
Coma.
Coma.
Coma.
Why? Why did everything bad happen to me? A car wreck? A Ferris wheel malfunction? Why? I felt Max hug me from behind, then he left. As soon as he left I crawled onto Joji's hospital bed and I lay there with him, hugging him. I curled up and wept into the sheets, feeling Joji's chest lift up and down.
