Not spell checked. Please make do. Sorry. Except my dogs.
"You promise you'll visit me?" I roll my eyes and stare at all the other busy people in the airport. "I cross my heart." I say, hugging Max. He nods and looks away. When he looks back, his eyes are glossy. I can't help but crack up, I shove him away but he just scoops me up and hugs me. "Shut up! God forbid I cry once in my life." He drops me and we just look at each other. "Do you really have to?" I ask, grabbing Max's hand. He already knows what I'm talking about, he looks away again. I huff and wait for his gaze to return. "It's better if we do it." He whispers. I nod and give him a quiet hug and I go get my plane ticket.
----------------
The line for the tickets was huge. Everyone was bustling and jumbling around, talking and groaning in the long line. People were screaming at the flight attendances. I rolled my eyes and stood with my life in two suitcases.
I thought about Max's idea. He would drive straight to the hospital and take care of Joji. It's funny, because he was halfway to the hospital, and I was halfway in the line. While I waited, I looked at the couple of photos of Joji I had. The one of us snuggling, and the one of him flipping the pancake up in the pan. They were both wonderful pictures, but it's sad that he had that weird phobia. They were all I had to remember him. I could no longer take silly pictures of him or pictures of us hugging. I shook my head and deleted the pictures, clicking off my phone. Then I looked up.
"Hello ma'am, and welcome to Crosco Air Service. How can I help you today?" A woman with blond curly hair, bright pink blush, and pasty red lips says. Her lips part to show a slightly yellow smile. I smile weakly at her, about to ask her for a ticket, but my phone rings. "Just one second." I say politely. She nods and smiles again, as I step a little out of her earshot. "Hello?"
"Hello? Y/n!?!" Ugh. Max.
I smirk and stare at the polished ground.
"You miss me already?"
My question is dodged by the Aussies frantic voice.
"Oh my god, y/n! I don't care if you're on that godamn plane! Come to the hospital right away!" My eyes go harsh, my tone weak.
"W-what do you..." I can't find words. Start over. "What's wrong?"
I finally spit the words at Max.
"I-it's....Joji. You need to come now!" He screams at me.
"What the hell, Max? What's wrong?"
"You come. Now!"
The line went dead moments after Max spat out those words. They remained in my head, all of them did. I scoffed and shoved my phone into my pocket. I smiled at the lady at the desk. People grumbled, people spat out words that weren't the politest.
"Um, change of plans. See you around?" I say, smiling as I pick up my bags.
"Ok then, please be safe!" I hear the lady call behind me. I'm already out the door.
The smell of the taxi isn't the best, but I don't care. I yell at the driver every two seconds to hurry. When I'm there, I throw a twenty at him and grab my bags. I rush to the hospital doors. The nurse at the front desk stares at me. She's seen me a million times. She signals for me to head on in. I drop my bags onto the floor and rush to the elevator. When I get to the third floor, I bust out into the hall. My high waist skinny jeans and my black blouse held my sweaty skin. Nervous couldn't describe what I was. I was terrified, heartbroken, wasting away. Not much has changed since the past few months. I ran down the hall still. Left. Right. Right. I knew this hospital like the back of my hand. Max was crouched down on the floor.
"Hey, what the hell?!" I asked, Max jolted up, a weird sad but not sad look on his face. "I'm sorry, I just thought that this was important!" He said, in almost a whisper.
I was so confused, I hate surprises. I believed this sick surprise would be nothing short of horrible. So I fought my urge to bust in there, and instead I waited, pulling answers from Max.
"Why am I here?"
"You'll see."
"Why were you so frantic?"
"You'll see."
"Why the hell am I here?"
"You'll see!"
"Fine!"
I huffed at him, turning to the door. I gripped the cold handle, my fingers tensed and sweated. I took a deep breath and walked into the room. Wow.
There lay Joji, his machine beeping and his chest barely lifting and falling. I stared at him. What happened? He was fine. My anger built.
I spun on my heels and stared at Max. He was smirking. "What the fuck?! You take me from my flight, to see my boyfriend in a coma, like he's been for the past eight months? On top of that, you're gonna pull the plug! Now I have to watch? You're sick! And when you hurt someone li-" I was cut off.
"Y-y/n?"
I slowly turned. There lay Joji, his machine beeping and his chest barley lifting and falling. I stared at him. In his eyes. They were open. He blinked. I blinked. He laughed. I cried. I ran to him, sobbing. I jumped on the bed and kissed him all over. I kissed his face and his neck and his hands. He just sat, laughing and laughing. He wrapped his arms around my waist tenderly, pulling me in for a sweet kiss on the lips. We kissed gently, our lips felt so familiar to one another. His were soft and plump, just like I remembered. When we stopped, he pulled away. I pulled away. We sat for a long time, just staring at each other. His hand brushed my face. "How have you been?" He asked, his voice gruff and tired. I smiled, I loved him so much. "I've been a wreck, hoping and praying and-" I stop, looking at his hairy face. "But now, I'm amazing."
------------------THE END---------------
Hello everyone! Thank you for reading my book! I'm so glad you stayed with it this whole time and enjoyed it. I wanna give a special thanks to everyone who liked or starred one of my chapters. It means so much! Also, I just want to announce that I am working on three different endings right now, so it's kind of like a "choose your own ending." Type thing. I will work on those now!
Also! I want to start a new book! I have some great ideas, involving the reader plus youtubers in a zombie apocalypse world, where they battle to survive and make cruel but cute memories along the way. Or I have a book I'm already creating, I haven't released it, but it's about a love story about some made up teens. It's pretty nice so far, it takes a while to make a chapter, but what ever. I hoped you enjoyed the book. Look out for the three endings!!!
