Trying to Move On

I felt a warm breath on my face and I slowly opened an eye . It was Roxie . "Oh hi Roxie" I said . "Hey" she replied softly . "What time is it" I asked . "I'm not sure" she replied . "We've got to get moving" I said , getting up . "Should I wake the others" Roxie asked . "Ye , please" I replied . She walked over to the rest of the gang and they were fast asleep . Nelly's head was on Peanut's knee and the others were sleeping in a line at the wall but they had their heads on each others shoulders . They woke up with a jolt . "We were asleep" moaned Ernie . "I know but we have to get going" I replied . I opened the cellar door slowly and looked around . There was no one coming . I looked up through the skylight and it was night time . " We have a good chance to escape" I said . "And eat" ? quizzed Buddy . "Maybe" I said . I motioned for them to follow me and they got up . We all walked to the reception and there was a night warden . I motioned for them to stop walking and to be silent . They knocked into each other because I stopped suddenly . The night warden walked into the office off the reception desk . "Come on" I whispered , sharply . We ran for the door but it was locked . "Now , look what you got us into" said Purry angrily . "I'll think of something" I said , angrily too. Roxy and Freckles flinched . "Guys, arguing is not going to get us out" said Peanut . "Suppose you're right" I sighed . "Well , any ideas" Purry said , Impatiently . "I'm trying to figure it out" I replied . "Well try harder" he replied . "This way" I said , suddenly breaking into a sprint . "Wait for us" Nelly shouted . They all ran after me . I led them back to the wine cellar . "Why are we back here" asked Ernie . "You'll see" I said . I got a crate and put it under the skylight . "Nelly" I called . "Ye" she replied . "Keep watch" I said in a demanding voice . She went to the door and watched . I had the crates 2 storeys high . "Guys , we're going to do a bit of teamwork" I said . "Ok" they said . "Pass up that crate" I said . Roxie lifted it but fell over . "Oh my God, are you ok" I screamed . I heard her crying . I jumped from the crate and got her into my arms . I brought her into the store room and the others followed . "You ok" they said in unison. "Yes , she'll be ok" I said as I examined her . She screamed when I touched her stomach . "Ok , we will have to stay here until Roxie gets better" I said . "What if somebody finds us" replied Buddy . "I have an idea" I said . "Another one of your ideas" Purry shouted . I ignored him . "Who wants to go into the town" I asked . No one put up their paws . "Ernie and Nelly" I said . They lifted their heads. "Do you want to go to town" I asked . They looked at each other . . "I'll get ye something in return" I bribed . "What will you get" Ernie asked . "You'll see" I replied . "We'll go" Ernie said . "Thanks guys, I need a carrier bag for Roxy , so just try a pound shop or pet shop" I instructed . "We have no money though" Nelly said . "Steal it for now and we'll think of a way to get money" I replied . "Ok" she replied unsurely . They headed for the door and walked out . Purry , Peanut and I stayed and nursed Roxy . After a while , my headset came on . "Kate" I heard Ernie's voice . "Ye" I replied . "We're at the pet shop but its locked" he replied . "Try to pick the lock" I told him. I heard him at it . "Got it" he said . "I hear a panic alarm" said Peanut listening to her headset . "Just go in and get the first carrier you see and run for your lives" I said to Ernie . I heard them run after a while . The door handle twisted and we held our breath . It was Nelly and Ernie. I ran over and hugged them . They had a backpack dog carrier . "Perfect" I screamed . "Can we get into it" asked Purry . "When Roxy is better" I said . The gang sulked . I giggled a bit . I put Roxy into the carrier and carried Roxy like a backpack . "All set" I called . "Yay" they replied . We all went back into the main cellar and we stacked the crates like stairs . "How will we get up" asked Nelly . "I'll give you a lift up" I replied . "Ok" they replied . "Ready" I asked.
