Ebony Riddle silently exhaled in pure boredom. Her grey eyes scanned the large ballroom, looking for something to hold her attention. She glanced at her father briefly, not that she had any plans of making conversation. The Dark Lord wasn't one for conversation....even if it was a party....even if it was his only daughter. Of course he had given Ebony the usual lecture before they had made their grand entrance into the ballroom. The standard " No dancing, no talking to boys, don't eat if no one offers you anything, don't speak unless spoken to, smile even if you aren't having fun, and most importantly; Don't embarrass me."

Basically, Ebony was to sit still and look pretty beside her father, while everyone else got to enjoy themselves. Oh, what would she would give to just dance once. Her gaze fell upon Draco Malfoy, her best friend. Honestly he was more like her big brother, being much older than her. Ebony herself was fourteen and Draco was going on seventeen soon. She shot him a look of despair which he replied to with a smirk, before being whisked away by his pug-faced girlfriend. Ebony found herself playing with the lace sleeves of her dress, she had become an expert at finding interest in the most mundane of tasks, having to attend her fathers balls, meetings, speeches, and rallies her whole life. Suddenly she was snapped back to reality by a low, hissing voice.

" Stop playing with your dress...you look foolish...."

Ebony didn't turn to look at The Dark Lord, she didn't have to.

 " Yes father...sorry father...."

Same routine.....same story....same chains.
