Ebony was gagging on the words that were stuck in her throat.

"T..te..teach me?" She stuttered

" Yes my daughter, it is high time you join me in this mockery of a war" Her father snarled with a look of distaste after mentioning the war.

"B..but I thought Draco would be assisting you.." Ebony said casually, trying to manipulate answers from her father. It was slightly truthful, Ebony had always assumed Draco would eventually be the one to assist her father when the war had become more serious. Draco had just always seemed so....perfect for the job.

" Draco is not who I desire. I want my own blood fighting beside me."

Ebony gulped. She despised that term "blood", as if some DNA would bind her to a legacy she didn't wish to live.

" Well that is all I needed from you, good day, Ebony" Voldemort said dismissively, waving her to the door.

"Yes father...thank you.." Ebony said hastily, almost running to the door. As she was halfway through the door frame, she heard her fathers hissing voice once more.

"Do not disappoint me."

Pretending like she hadn't heard, Ebony swung the door shut.

"What's wrong, Eb's? Chocolate frog in your throat?" Draco snickered. The pair was packing Draco's belongings, for he would soon be returning to Hogwarts. Ebony however, had been staring out Draco's bedroom window, thinking of the conversation she had had with her father earlier.

"Hmm? Oh no... just thinking..." Ebony said as she started going through Draco's closet. " I hate when you leave...."

"Me too, Eb's... I wish I could take you with me.." Draco sighed, giving her a pained expression.

"Draco....can...can I tell you something?" Said Ebony as she sat down on his bed.

"Sure, whats up?" Said Draco joining her.

"I...my...My father has decided it's time for me to learn the Dark Arts...and he has decided he's going to teach me himself." Ebony sputtered before she could stop herself, screwing her eyes shut. As she tentatively opened them she saw Draco staring at her, eyes widened with concern.

" Ebony that's fantastic! Why do you look so frightened?"

"Because...because...." Ebony stuttered as tears filled her stormy grey eyes.

"Because I don't think I want to be a Dark Witch..." Ebony whispered before bursting into tears. Draco looked at her with a mix of emotions swimming in his blue eyes. Part of him seemed to be confused about why Ebony would resent such a fantastic opportunity while another part of him seemed to be filled with pity for her.

"Ebony...I..I...I don't think you know what you're saying...." Draco said carefully.

"Draco...I don't know who I am but this," Ebony sobbed, gesturing to herself, " Is not it." Draco pulled Ebony closer to him and turned her to face him, keeping a firm grip on her shoulders.

" Ebony listen to me. There are Dark Times almost upon us. Those who flee and do not choose sides will be destroyed and those who choose the wrong side, well...they will be treated worse. I think you should know, It's better to be protected by walls you don't believe in, then to be protected by nothing at all."

Ebony stared at him wide eyed. She suddenly pushed his arms of her and made a mad dash for the door.

" Ebony..Eb's where are you going?" Draco called after her. But Ebony was already gone.
