Were that you are as at peace
    with the world
    as you are when you sleep
    next to me:
 when your eyelids
   have softly drifted downward;
   your breath slowed and hushed;
   and your lips gracefully upturned
   into the most genuine
    and handsome
   smile--
 one of satisfaction,
 one of trust,
 as if all the world was right with you
 and, all that's in it, perfect.
                              Were that you are as safe
    in the world
    as you are
    when you sleep next to me.
