When I'm free, my world's on fire
and I run an unbridled race
   of giddy, love, and sanctimonia
   until exhausted, breathless
   I fall shattered before you.
When I'm free, I know no other state
     of being and I chase
all of my fancies here and there
until I realize they're, too, empty
   as I am with them.
When I'm free, there's no reason
     to remember where I've been
and no need to ponder past decisions
or memories that left me withered---
for now, I am free, after all.
