The study was a rather cliché one. There was a rather comfy looking couch, bookshelves filled with books and a desk. There was one chair under the desk, and three chairs on the other side. Behind the desk was crackling fireplace, which provided some warmth, the rest of which was provided by heaters.

Rayn looked around apprehensively from her seat in the middle chair. Everything looked so expensive, she was afraid to touch anything. She had been ushered into a room, a study by the looks of it. Eresia and Draven had stayed with her, but there were now two new people, one of whom carried a struggling black puppy, which Eresia was making cooing noises at.

The man with the dog had brown hair with what were likely natural highlights, blue eyes, and appeared to be in his thirties. She wouldn't be surprised if someone told her he had Native American blood. Judging by his stern face and straight posture, this man had a military background. He also had authority here, as seen by the way in which Draven had saluted him and said, "Back without a scratch, sir." Eresia also seemed rather important. She didn't do anything but wave at the guy, and immediately just focused on the dog. Rayn had thought that the military man would explode at this display of insubordination, but he looked as though he were used to it.

The other man was in his thirties as well, but looked three or four years older than the one who held the puppy. He had black hair and light blue eyes with crow's feet around them. It actually looked rather nice on him. It looked as though he hailed from Europe, though he had no discernible accent. He was also rather fit, no fat and his skin wasn't sagging. He was watching Eresia play with the puppy, which had been put down when it began to whine, and had a rather relaxed smile on his face.

For the thousandth time, she wondered why she wasn't panicking.

She had just gotten in a car with complete strangers, been brought to a strange mansion and was surrounded by people who she'd never seen before, But all she really felt was relaxed and curious. She was the calmest she had ever been before, and these were without a doubt the strangest series of events that had ever happened to her. Which just made things weirder, as she did not work well under pressure. In fact she usually turned into a pile of uselessness whenever something that wasn't expected happened.

A hush fell over the room, and she realized that the puppy had curled up, looking sleepy. The eldest man cleared his throat, walking to the other side, pulling out his chair, and sitting down. Eresia sat down on the chair to Rayn's right. Unexpectedly, Draven sat down on Rayn's left. The other man, Eresia had called him Dan, stood behind Eresia's chair. He was scanning the room and windows, and she realized that Draven was doing the same thing. When combined with Draven's words when they first met, she came to an answer.

'Guards.' She thought. 'They're guarding Eresia. But why? And from what?'

"Hello Rayn," the eldest man said. He had a nice voice, calming and kind. "My name is Etios Doran. Welcome to the main house. You were brought here because you are a Seer."

"A Seer?" She asked. The word was unfamiliar, yet... she knew it.

"A Seer is someone who can see these." Etios said, gesturing at his shoulder and the demon which rested there. "Seers can also Hide and Fuse with their demons, but I'll get into that later. First, I suppose, comes an explanation. This world, Earth, is closely linked to Hell."

Rayn snorted. "Sorry, I'm an atheist."

Etios smiled. "I am too. This isn't the Christian Hell, but another planet altogether. Hell and Earth are side by side on the dimensional plane. Whenever a sinner on Earth dies... "

"The sins are different too!" Eresia interjected.

"... their souls go to Hell." Etios continued, smoothly ignoring the interruption. "Whenever a demon in Hell dies, their souls come here to Earth. Basically, it's a reincarnation cycle. When a human dies, their memory is wiped and they can remember nothing of their past lives, but when a demon dies, a part of its conscious goes with its soul, enabling it to know everything that happened in their previous lives. This conscious is what we Seer's 'see'. I'll give you some time to process that. Things are going to get a bit complicated."
