Rayn and Dan arrived at Professor Anthony Zoffer's house at the same time.
The only one who wasn't surprised was Eresia, but that was because she hadn't noticed. When they were five minutes away from the house, she had begun to shake. Her eyes were glazed, and she was rocking slightly in her seat. She looked terrified. Her typical reaction when she sensed a Turned Seer had been in the vicinity within a day. Draven stroked her back, trying to calm his best friend down while Dan and Rayn got out of their cars and faced one another.
"Why are you here?" Dan asked, his eyes narrowed.
"I could ask the same to you." Rayn replied, crossing her arms over her chest.
"We sensed that the Turned ones had come to this house recently. Eresia's reaction has confirmed it." Dan told her.
Rayn paled. "Anthony..." she muttered, and then she ran into the house, panicking. Dan followed her. She pushed at the front door, which slowly creaked open, revealing a wrecked foyer. Taking a shaky breath, she walked in.
"Anthony..., Nadine..." Rayn called, hoping either her best friend or his wife would hear her. Dan took a careful survey of the house and the damage. The destruction had no purpose, but had happened for the sake of it. A sure sign of their enemies, if Eresia's reaction hadn't been enough. Then they reached the living room.
Rayn opened her mouth to scream at the sight of Nadine's body, the spatters of her blood decorating the walls, to mourn the loss of a kind welcoming woman who always had a smile for those she came across. But Dan clapped his hand over her mouth. Rayn glared at him through tear filled eyes.
"If they're still here, do you want to tip them off?" He hissed. Her eyes widened, then she nodded. Dan removed his hand. A creak by the door had them both whirling around. Draven stood there with a pale Eresia hanging on his shoulder for support.
"Why are you here?" Dan frowned. He had ordered them to stay in the car, due to Eresia's condition.
"Eresia said that we needed to come inside." Draven answered, carefully guiding the already sick girl's gaze away from the body.
Suddenly, Eresia began to shake again, this time even harder than before, to the point that her fingers could no longer maintain their grip on Draven's shirt and she began to fall down. Draven grabbed her before she could hit the floor.
"What's wrong?" He asked, resuming his previous actions and stroking her back.
"A-A-A T-Turned S-Seer is c-coming." She got out through chattering teeth.
"What?!" Dan exclaimed. He glanced at the people with him. "Draven, get Rayn and Eresia out of here. Go!" He emphasized his orders with a gesture at the door.
But at that very moment, they heard the stomp of boots on the hardwood flooring. Dan and Draven nodded at each other. Silently, Draven passed the shaking Eresia to Rayn, and turned to face the door with Dan. Within moments, a big burly man with a pockmarked face entered. They stared at one another for a moment, then the man's demon came out.
"Well, well, what do we have here? Pathetic little goody-goodies who're trying to get in my way?" The demon, a minotaur, sneered. Rayn shuddered at the malice in his tone, clutching Eresia to her tighter.
Immediately, Draven and Dan's own demons came out. Seeing a dragon and a sea serpent facing him as opposed to the expected goblins or gremlins, the minotaur's human took a step back. But what surprised every human in the room was when the minotaur yelled, "Lord Timburlentis! Lady Sirena! What are you doing here? With those humans?"
Draven looked at the dragon on his shoulder. "You know this guy?"
"Unfortunately, yessss. He'ssss a rather nassssty guy." Sirena replied, causing Timburlentis to glare at her (the question was addressed to him, thank you very much).
