New York reservoir, Central Park: November 30th, 2013: 4:15 PM

The Heroes Legion stood outside the entranceway by the reservoir lake that held the way down into the caves and passages that lead to the spring source of Manhattan islands water.

Since Shadow Knight didn't want to shadow walk them all blindly in to the spot where the so called "Queen Of The Hive" might be located if the memory echoes he had seen in Stephanie Walkers memories could be trusted.

They instead had opted to let Robo-warrior hack into it using over 245 gigabytes of RAM, they would be inside in a few minutes.

As Robo-warrior worked the locks, the rest of the Heroes Legion kept watch of the parameter, keeping an eye out for any infected members of The Hive who might try to jump them...and try and bring them into their fold like they did with who knew how many others already.

They had already lost one of their number already, and if this really was a hive minded threat they were dealing with, The Hive and the mind controlling it all might be aware of what they were up to... Especially since Murdoch had been assimilated and might have overheard them from whatever place he was hiding if any at the mansion when they made their plan.

And since neither Shadow Knight or Cyber-29 could detect assimilated victims of The Hive for some reason (due to either the creatures being not human, a mesh of genetic anomalies or a type of bio-organic virus that neither could sense or detect), they Heroes Legion remained on High Alert lest they end up assimilated also.

Silicon was patrolling the fence line of the reservoir, the same fence that some people in New York would jog around in the early morning hours of the day to stay fit and healthy.

As he looked out at the vast expanse of the reservoir, his eyes caught sight of movement down in the water that was definitely NOT the usually movement of water, or the usual gleam of the moons light and reflection on the surface that you usually saw on water.

It was oily instead of clear looking, and then Silicon's eyes widened in realization as he understood why the water looked different.

"Uh...guys?" Silicon called to the others warily, pointing down to the waters of the reservoir lake on the other side of the fence as he did "I think you'd all better see this!"

All of them joined their young teammate in looking out at the reservoir water to see what Silicon was pointing to.

As their eyes adjusted to the darkness of the night outside of the lights of the street lamps surrounding the reservoirs sub levels entrance, they soon saw what Silicon was pointing towards out there.

From where they stood, as far as they could see... The reservoir was now occupied by large amounts of the black tar, writhing and squirming like some kind of alien life form.

"There's so much of it" Raven Ducard said as she looked on with the others with worry on her face as well.

"Oh it just looks like so much because it's Alive and waiting" velocity pointed out as he looked out at the vast churning mass of blackness that now occupied the reservoir water, "why is it waiting? Why isn't it going out there and assimilating the place like the smaller versions usually did? There's a literal buffet line of people to infect around the whole outside of Central Park! Why stay here?"

"I'd agree..." Shadow knight said as he looked out at the "creature" in the water of the reservoir, his eyes narrowed in suspicion "if that was indeed one of those creatures we've already encountered. What we're seeing is in fact that black tar substance the "creatures" were made of mixed with the New York reservoirs water supply!"
