"Revenge will be ours..." one of them said in a raspy voice.
"I beg to differ..." one of the dying lookouts said.
The collective soldier turned to face the lookout and was greeted by an armor piercing bullet through the skull.
"Revenge is mine you traitorous piece of-" he was cut off by a kick to the head, ending his consciousness.
The gunshot startled the rest of the men below. They quickly drew arms made their way to the defenses. The two remaining collective soldiers expecting this reaction made their way to the stairwell and aimed their small auto pistols down the stairs. The first soldier who rounded the corner was met with a hail of shots which painted the wall behind him with his blood.
"That was my brother you heartless piece of shit!" A voice said from downstairs. One of the collective soldiers chuckled, but his amusement turned to horror as a grenade was flung up the stairs and plopped at his feet. He attempted to kick the explosive away, but it detonated before he could reach it. The explosion launched bits and pieces of the soldier in all directions. Leaving a red stained crater where he stood. The left side of the other soldier's body was shredded by shrapnel, he was shoved to the ground by the explosion screaming in agony before a armored boot was slammed down on his face crushing his brain.
The bombers were in plain view now, and it was obvious what their target was.
"We have to get to cover before those bombers hit!" one of the soldiers said as he watched the bombers approach.
"Agreed, Renis go sound the air raid siren." the captain said.
Renis sprinted back down the stairs to a large pole and slammed a button causing the siren to wail. Revius, hearing this loaded his battle cannon and aimed it towards the sky.
Inside the bombers the pilots were calling in. "Vengeance one calling in."
Vengeance two calling in."
Vengeance three calling in."
"Fighter escort, are you in position?" Vengeance one asked.
All at once many voices replied, "Affirmative."
"Don't expect much resistance from the firebase, there is no way they could have set up anti air cannons this fast." Vengeance two said. Suddenly one of the fighters suffered a titanic hit and was crumpled into a fiery chunk of metal. The wreckage smashed into the plaza of the firebase, exploding into a fireball that illuminated Righteous Fury and his smoking battle cannon in a red orange glow.
"What was that!?" Vengeance three said.
"It's that damned warblade!" one of the fighter pilots said. "I advise you drop your bombs before it blows you out of the sky." he added
"Understood fighter escort, anything else?" Vengeance two asked. There was a thunderous explosion that rocked the bomber and the fighter could be seen plummeting to its doom on the ground below.
"Skrew it, bombs away." Vengeance one said. The bomb doors opened and a stream of shells began to fall from all three bombers. Revius took aim on the lead bomber, and launched a shell in its direction. The shell blurred into the bomber tearing off its tail. The bombers wrecked hull began to drop alarmingly fast, smashing into a small cluster of fighters on its way down. At this point the bombs impacted, shaking the ground like an earthquake. Parts of The Forge exploded here and there. The air raid siren went quiet as the tents were obliterated and many soldiers who were caught in the earth cracking explosion disintegrated completely.
