Both sides released everything they had onto each other. every shot from the defenders dropped an attacker, every blast from a tank destroyed a row of defenders.
Revius aimed his cannon at one of the tanks and fired, the shell blasted through the turret and the tank erupted into a fiery mess. Revius's machine gun was red hot and a mound of casings lay at his feet. The soldiers standing underneath him were getting pelted by the ejecting bullets. The attackers fell in droves, but there were just too many of them.
With a earsplitting crack a massive battle walker launched a shell at Righteous Fury. The shell impacted and left a sizable dent in his armor. "Hull integrity at 80%" Righteous Fury warned. Revius looked around slightly dazed from the hit and saw his troops falling left and right. He felt something stir within his mind... something dark... something sinister... He left his tacticaly crouched position and stood straight up and locked visors with the massive battle walker. With the fire of the sun blazing in his eyes he began to walk forward menacingly. Vulcan watched in astonishment as bullets and small laser blasts pinged harmlessly off of Revius's armored form.
The battle mech sensing Revius's challenge also began to advance, the two behemoths began to charge. They plowed through the collective soldiers like bulldozers. With a great roar the two crashed into each other. The sound of clashing steel and the strained whir of hydraulics was incredibly loud. many attacking soldiers covered their ears only to be shot down to the ground by the steady aim of the defenders. In his blind rage Revius neglected to hold the front line causing the invaders to make it into the trench line of the fire base.
A collective soldier jumped down into the trench and plunged a knife through a enemy soldiers chest, and didn't realize that Hellfire one was standing too his right. suddenly the soldier was enveloped in flames, his skin began to melt and blister in the unrelenting blaze. Hellfire swiped the flame thrower across the trench and into the area above and engulfed a small group of attackers in his storm of fire. their screams were muffled to faint whispers of death through Hellfire's gas mask.
Meanwhile, Vulcan was fighting for his life, in the warblade's absence the enemy began to stream into the trench. Vulcan hip fired his rifle with one arm and shot using his pistol in the other. Eventually after slaying a large congregation he was forced to drop his guns and resort to using his combat ax. Using his ax he blocked a knife wielding attacker and broke his knee with a powerful kick, the soldier fell to the ground convulsing in pain. using his ax he removed the attackers head from his shoulders in one swift swing. The ground was soaking blood like a sponge that unnerved the soldiers from both sides.
Revius was struggling to gain the upper hand on his opponent. The battle mech was beating down on Righteous Fury's hull. Revius broke the onslaught of punches with a staggering uppercut into the mech's visor. Using his battle cannon he blew off the left arm of the mech, It stumbled back struggling not to tip over. Revius sensed imminent victory and his rage began to fade. With a great thud, the maimed battle mech fell on its side because of the weight of its remaining arm overpowering the pilots ability to keep the machine standing. Revius placed his massive foot onto the mech's chest and began to press. The metal creaked and warped under the immense force.
