Later that evening they gave us our schedules and let us sign up for extra curricular classes. Then we were brought to our dorms and left to socialize. All the older students knew each other already, and most of the first years had met during the feast.

So Scorpius and I were left to that spread out area of anti-socials. Yay.

He still hung around me, as I was the only person he vaguely knew. We stood to the side not talking for a few minutes, and after about the five minute mark I decided to say something. I turned to him and opened my mouth, when another kid came up and put his arm on my shoulders around the back of my neck. As he did this, I instinctively leaned my head down an bent forward slightly, letting him slide over and stumble into Scorpius.

Scorpius, being the shy weak kid he was, fell back almost immediately. The other guy tripped on him mid sentence and fell to the side, flailing to not fall on Scorpius. This made him crash into the coffee table, his back landing right on the corner. He made some noises, and swore as he clutched his back on the floor.

There was a stunned silence for a moment, and everyone in the room turned to look at us. Scorpius sheepishly got up and sort of half hid behind me.

Finally, after a spiel of gibberish and half formed insults, he managed to get out, "What the hell was that for?!"

"Sorry, force of habit," I said. For some reason, as I said this, I began chuckling. By the end of the sentence I just found it hilarious and burst out laughing. A couple people scoffed, but mostly they just stared. Feeling my face redden, my hand went up to my mouth and pressed against it trying to stop it. There was still a slight giggle in my throat, and I felt the corners of my try to come up.

Another guy walked up from behind and patted me on the shoulder. "Nice,"

I turned around. He was tall and slim, and his robe hung loosely off him. His hair was straight and black, but not the pure kind, the kind that shines brown in light. His eyes were a pale blue color, and there was a wide smirk on his face.

He stuck out his hand. "Thatcher Phlorys, second year."

"Serena Nyelar, first year," I said, shaking his hand. He kinda reminded me of Aunt Thalia, with the black hair and those same blue eyes.

"Oh, are you American? That's odd, you'd think you'd be enrolled in Salem."

"Yeah," I paused. And so it begins. "Does the accent stick out that much?"

He shrugged. "Ah, not really. It's not as bad as other's,"

I waited. Thankfully, he didn't make any stupid American jokes. I made them all the time back home, but.... it's different. You know, because none of my friends are alchoholics and have hunting licenses.

"And you?" He stuck out his hand to Scorpius, who was still lingering behind me. He shyly stepped out.

Slowly, he put his hand out. "I'm Scorpius Malfoy, I-"

"Really? A Malfoy?" Thatcher grabbed his hand and shook it eagerly. Poor Scorpius was kinda jiggling as his arm was flung up and down spastically. His face was turning bright red, and he looked like he was going to piss himself. "Hey everyone! This year we have a Malfoy!"

Everyone in the room turned to look at us again, and came over to see. Thatcher looked at him last minute. "You don't mind do you?"

"I-"

"Good, thanks!"

As people started asking questions and began introducing themselves, he looked at with the clear expression of help me! At this point Thatcher held his arm in the air and waved it, jerking the kid around.

I tried to help him and get the people away, but there were too many, and at this point the shy little girl inside me was begging me not to get more people's attention. I tried asking them to leave, and all that stuff that would come to mind. I even tried to pull him away.

None of this worked. I wanted to help him, and to be honest I had no idea what I was thinking, all I know is what I did next. Which was really stupid in hindsight.

"Everyone back off and stop fan-girling over him!" I yelled. It wasn't a high girly yell either, it was a low, Imma rip your face off and beat you with it yell.

They were stunned, except for one girl in the front. "What, are you his girl-"

"Do you think I'm his girlfriend, you dumb shit!? Do you think that as an 11 year old I'd go out with someone I'd just met?"

That was when I realized how stupid I was being. I felt my head heat up, and my stomach get an uncomfortable weightless feeling. I wanted to take it all back and go to a different continent. Or kill all witnesses, whichever was easier. Thankfully, there was a moment of silence, that let me not spaz out completely and smash my head on the wall.

Then another guy spoke. "Bleeding hell, what's your proble-"

"Was I talking to you blockhead!? Or do you answer to dumb shit?"

Everyone gave me looks of respect, shock, and complete hatred. There was a moment of silence, and it felt like they were daring someone to make the next move. At this point it felt like my head was on fire, and I hoped that I wasn't glaring at these people with a red face.

I took a shaky breath, and gave a light bow. "I apologize. Carry on."

As I walked up the steps to the dorms, I felt everyone staring at me. I heard Scorpius follow right behind me. I was thinking to myself, What was with the bow? HOLY SHIT what was with the screaming?

Behind me, I heard someone speak up. "As head student, I-"

I spun around and he shut up. We stared at each other, and I felt a smile creep onto my face. "Well? Go on, what are you going to do?"

He looked at me like he was disarming a bomb, or something more delicate. His eyes widened, realizing what was happening.

"Oh come on, as head student, you have to maintain your authority." I scoffed. "So what will this action bring? Hmm? Minus.. 50 points? 100? I personally think 250 would be appropriate."

Nervously, he looked around the room, and everyone gave him the same look of, you're the boss, do something! Slowly, he turned back to me, and spoke in a shaky voice. "Minus... ten points... for innapropriate outburst..."

A number of people in the room gave him dirty looks.

"A-and.... Plus ten points.... for helping a peer?"

My smile grew wider, but it wsa still malicious. "Thank you, I promise it'll never happen again."

With that I turned around and began walking again. I heard the crowd behind me murmur, and I had a good idea of what they were saying.

At the top of the stairs, I felt like ripping my hair out and screaming. It felt like the stupidest decision of my life. I turned the corner and was about to go to the girls' dorm, when Scorpius tapped me on the shoulder.

"Thank you," he said quietly.

I looked at him. "And I'm really sorry,"

"It's okay."

We looked at each other, and I gave him a little smile. "You're a good friend."

In the dorm, I chose the only single bed in the room without a bunk. It was at the far end in a corner by a window, with only one other bed beside it. There were no bags by it, so I assumed it was empty.

I found my own stuff by a bed in the middle. I moved it to the different bed, and began unpacking. No one would mind.
