Lucy stared in amazement and the pretty pink balloon her father had given her.
" Daddy thank you! " Lucy exclaimed, hugging her fathers leg tightly.
Her father chuckled and ran his hand through her long brown hair. The young girls eyes stared up at her father with her big brown eyes as the two giggled.
Suddenly she felt a hard tug at her long hair as she fell back, staring up at her mother.
" H-hi mommy " she said in a nervous tone.
Her mother glared at the girl and in a slurred, angry voice she screamed at the top of her lungs.
" Go to your room right now! "
Lucy stood up and ran towards the stairs, stopping after the first two steps so she could peak at the confrontation.
" You bastard! " her mother screeched, pushing the man firmly against the couch.
" W-what are you taking about Mem? " he said.
Lucy could hear nervousness in his tone.
" You screwed my sister! You motherfucking bastard!!! "
Lucy watched as her father began to sweat.
" N-now M-em. Calm down plea- "
The man was hushed when Mem pulled out a gun.
Even in her drunk state she had perfect aim.
" Mem please let's talk this out! " Lucy's father begged his wife.
Lucy's eyes widened and as if space and time came together perfectly Lucy's balloon popped as her mother squeezed the trigger...

Lucy gasped as she felt cold sweat running down her face. She frantically looked around, trying to take in the situation.
As she came back to reality she saw the living room that she was sleeping in.
The soft couch that she lay on felt rock solid in that moment as she buried her head in her hands and began to sob uncontrollably.
The images still burnt in her mind as the awful scene played over and over. Her sobs were interrupted by a shocked and considered voice.
" Oh god Lucy... Are you okay? " Lip asked as he ran down the stairs and towards the teary eyed girl.
Lucy, not wanting to show her weaknesses nodded her head and sipped her tears.
" Just a nightmare is all... I'm okay " she said as she put on a forced smile. The sunrise shining through the window created a beautiful red-orange glow.
Lip could tell that she wasn't okay and reached a hand out.
" Come on, you can come sleep with me " he said smiling.
Lucy gave him a confused look.
" Only if you want to tho "
Lucy pondered for a moment before taking his hand.
Lip slowly walked to the room that he and his brothers shared, lifting her so she could get on his bunk.
As the two cuddled closely Lucy felt something deep in the pit of her stomach.
She felt... Loved...
