I tapped on the steering wheel as I waited in line at the security gate of my soon to be home. I had just signed the lease papers and got the keys to my apartment and was going to get a physical look at it.

I took in my surroundings feeling satisfied. It was a beautiful medium sized complex with maximum security. There was a pool, a laundry room, park, running trails, and game rooms. It was a perfect fit for me.When I finally reached the front of the line, I punched in my pin I'd received and drove to my apartment.

"5432...5432.... There!" I repeated the numbers as I hunted for my place, hidden in the maze of buildings. I eased my car into the parking spot before killing the engine and hopping out. I had been placed in the back of the complex, not my request, but liked it since I had more privacy.

"The sofa will go right over there." I said to my self as the living room came into my view. The whole place smelled of paint and that 'new house smell'. The plain creme walls led me to the kitchen which was fully furnished with black granite countertops, fridge and a midnight colored stove and oven.

After surveying this, I walked out of the kitchen and up the carpeted stairs. I peeked into the bathroom which had a granite sink as well and a granite shower with a glass door and toilet.

"Alright, so far so good." I stated as I walked out. My room sat across from the bathroom. My room was standard sized with a walk in closet on the left and a three paned window on the back wall. After I got a full look of the apartment, I decided to start packing when I got home.

On the way out of my apartment, my phone buzzed. I pulled it out seeing I had a message from Candace and my other friend  offering to link up later. I texted her maybe and hopped into my car.

Some of my belongings were packed up like my desk and room decor and I  had already purchased house necessities such as kitchen ware and furniture, so now it was just clothes and day to day items I needed to pack.

I drove to Wal-Mart to pick up a few things with the money I'd set apart.

As I pulled up into the driveway cutting the engine, I hopped out and rounded to my trunk to get my bags. It was a struggle since some of the bags were heavy and weighed down my arms, but I was not about to make a second trip.

Once I got all the bags piled on, I wrestled with the trunk trying to close it. I spent a good 2 minutes before letting my arms weighed down with plastic fall with an exasperated sigh. I looked down, grimacing at my arms that held marks from the plastic biting into my skin.

It was then that my ears picked up on approaching footsteps behind me.

I swivelled on my heels to see Dean strolling into the driveway, his shoes echoing on the pavement. Before I could say anything, he reached over and closed the trunk.

"Oh...thank you." I said with  politeness and surprise.

"No problem." he replied waving off my appreciation.

I stared at him a few seconds longer before walking towards the door.

"Hey, let me help you with those." He said referring to the bags.

I smiled before letting him take the entire left arm. I wasn't about to refuse help.

"A lady shouldn't have to carry so much." He smiled meeting my eyes.

"Aww, thanks." I gushed.

"Follow me." I stated leading him to the door.

I unlocked the door allowing him to come in.
