The orange-haired boy immediately looks up from his phone as soon as you call out to him, your gym bag slung over your shoulder and your cart hanging from your hand. Hinata shoves his phone into his pocket at the sight of you and flashes his brightest smile, a gesture that you unhesitatingly return. Though it'd only been a week since you last saw your close friend, the time apart felt like an eternity, mainly due to how emotionally-draining Tsukishima had been. Spending time with Hinata again was a nice change of pace; your days would no longer be filled with Tsukishima's constant teasing and antics that you've grown accustomed to - his constant teasing and antics that you've grown to enjoy.
"Hey, (y/n)! You okay?" Hinata's worried question brings you back to your senses.
Embarrassed by the fact that you'd gotten carried away with your thoughts, you attempt to coolly brush it off. "Y-Yeah, I'm fine. I just zoned out for a bit - I'm still tired from practice, I guess," You half-heartedly laugh to reassure Hinata that you really are okay, and fortunately, it works.
"Heh, I'm reaaally tired, too, (y/n)!" Hinata yawns.
You chuckle at his good humor before prodding his gym bag with your foot. "Alright, Shouyo! It's past five, and the sun's starting to set. We should be heading home."
Hinata excitedly agrees with your decision and picks up his bag from the floor. He then rushes to the front entrance and holds the door open for you. He dramatically sways his arms to beckon you out the door, drawing a few more chortles out of you.
"Wow," you jokingly sigh as you walk past Hinata, "and they say chivalry's dead."
The two of you share another laugh, clumsily stumbling onto the dirt path that leads to Karasuno's exit. In the midst of the lively moment, the two of you almost didn't hear the snarky voice of a certain blonde.
"Do you guys have to be that obnoxiously loud?"
You and Hinata simultaneously turn around, stopping once you both spot Tsukishima's towering figure. Dressed in his black school uniform and adorned with his white headphones, the boy seemed even more intimidating than usual. However, standing behind him was his shy freckled friend who, in his hands, held a strawberry-flavored beverage.
